'09 TL Sound System
'09 TL Sound System
i had a chrysler300 and i got kenwood subwoofer with a 4-channel amplifier connected to it and after a couple of months i noticed that the car stock speakers sound exhausted it did not have that crispy sound anymore. Recently i bought a 2009 Acura TL base and im thinking about putting in the same sub/amp in it. My question is that is it going to effect the stock speakers and the build in subwoofer or its going to have the same result as to what happened in the 300 with the speakers fading away? Also did anybody here try out aftermarket subwoofers in their TL?If yes how was it since the 4th gen TL has a lot of technology did it effect anything?? thanks and someone reply back
The speakers in the 09 are well documented as being sub-par. i had my front door speakers replaced twice since i had it , the tech told me that its best to just get after market ones and the after market sub-woofer was great.
subwoof
i purchased the 09 tl base certified in july, cd's play on subwoof(tho i wouldnt call it superior sound), xm-fm do not have any sound or low rumbling sound, not bass. acura told me to bring car in:
8/18/12- brought car in at 10:47 am. Was told via phone that the problem was not the speakers and to pick up car. Amplifier would be ordered. I was not given an invoice nor was I told whether speakers were actually replaced.
9/14/12- called AOA to inquire about amplifier service. I was told the speakers were in. After explaining that the I was told it wasn’t the speakers ( though at this point were they replaced?). I was told the amplifier would be ordered, was notified it was in on 9/18 and made another appointment.
9/22/12- brought car in at 9:51. Called at three pm for status. Was told that the amplifier was just being installed. AOA called back at 3:30 , said it wasn’t the amplifier and could I leave the car for three more days. I declined.
Had several follow-up calls. All very polite, apologetic and professional. BUT.. the facts remain: the car was kept for two workdays with no results. I asked, and honestly I should have done this early on, if there was a method to diagnose stereo problems. I was told they had to inspect car.
I am wondering whether to take car to another dealer
thanks for the ear.

what would be good "plug n play" replacements for the OEM speakers?
if someone wnated to upgrade the OEM system..d o we need a new amp or other supporting hardware..or would it be enough to just put in bertter speakers?
what kind of sub? is it sufficient to get a bette quality sub and stick it were the OEM one is.. or do we need an amplified one or an additional power source?

I too am having issues with the sound system. I had both door speakers replaced and the car still sounds like crap. The sound system as is SUCKS. I can't listen to the radio, the constant back ground static is driving me insane. The tech called me this after noon to tell me that the speakers were fine but he did notice that the rears were starting to go bad but was not blown and will not replace them. I said, I will pick up the car today and bring it back tomorrow with a blown rear speakers. The shop manager said go ahead and replace the rear speakers. Hope that fixes the problem.
