XM for 4.99

Anybody got the offer from XM for $4.99/mo for 12 months?
Just got it in the mail yesterday. I didn't take the $77/year offer so it's now time.

4.99? For what though? The 77/year gets me a decent package.

So it's basically $60 vs. $77.

Big deal.

Traffic flow and accidents are an extra $2.99 per month.

The wife's 3 months are about up and I'm not wanting to pay the big bucks for XM for her car.

So are you guys getting the postcard-type offer, or just asking for it on the phone?

I got a postcard plus a letter, but when I called I just said I wanted the $77 offer and was never asked if I got a card or for an offer code. On top of that, they discounted traffic/weather when I said I wouldn't take those services for what they were charging.

Consumers still rule.

Just get my TL SH-AWD . . . how come I didn't get the postcard or a letter? Did the offer from Acura or XM?

There is a post at the top of this forum that links to one in the 3G forum that tells you exactly what you have to do. I just called in and said I'd heard of a $77 per year offer. 5 minutes later it was all set.

My trial ran out and I was offered the 77.00 for a year or 20.00 for 5 months. I took the 20.00 deal. The 20.00 does not include taxes or royalty fees. So it is acutually around 23.00 for 5 months.

I started getting mailings to extend my membership from XM about a month after I bought the car.

I will do with the same with XM that I did when I bought my TL. I researched and decided on the price that I was willing to pay. If the dealers wouldn't have met my price, I would not have bought the car, it's just that simple.

When my contract with XM comes up, if they won't let me renew for $77 then they have lost my business. And they don't have the option to renew my subscription at a higher price because I paid by check, they don't have my credit card info.

Comcast Cable is about to get a call from me next. They have gradually been reducing service (taking away channels) and raising their prices. Not acceptable.

It's YOUR money. YOU decide who you give it to and how much they get.

just call them up and tell them you'll cancel unless they drop the price, worked no problem.

Just call and tell them you want the $77 deal, if they push back either call back and get another rep or ask for customer retention people. I have never had aan issue. I did have one force me to credit card pay to get it, but the other did not.

Yeah, I've done the $77 deal in the past, but since the merger I didn't know if maybe they were playing hardball. I'll want weather and traffic on hers, too, so I'll leverage that against the $77 price if they give me any crap.

As for the credit card thing, I will never ever give them my cc number. I've heard stories for years that they'll just automatically process the next renewal at full tilt prices. And when they told me there was an extra $2 charge or whatever for billing me, I told them if they were that chickencrap they could forget it ... and of course they folded.

I sometimes think the reps are independent contractors and they get a cut of every dollar they squeeze out of customers.
