Window tint - Moleskin required?

As the title states, is moleskin required for the 4G TL's? I know on my 3G TL it was.

Also, any brand recommendations? I'm not too worried about price as long as it won't fade, scratch, peel, etc.

Thanks.

I've had my tint for 2 years now. No moleskin required. No fade, scratch, or peeling. If you really wanted to you can, but moleskin will probably double your price on tint. I got mine done for 110 bucks for 5 windows(4 windows n back windshield) without moleskin

Certainly has not been necessary in my case.

I paid $200 in MD for a legal tint (30%) - should've gone darker, but cops are having a field day lately w/ tint tickets. Problems I don't need, honestly.

No moleskin - been on a month. Warranty for as long as I own the car. Used D&L Tinting, their brand of tint. Same warranty as the 3M, but couple hundred cheaper.

No moleskin needed for mine. Had it a few months, scratch free so far on tint done by dealer for under $200

Had to take my 35% off a few weekends ago. Local crusader on a Vespa with lights who had a bad experience back in '08 with a tinted car. Boasted about how he had written over 300 tint citations. I got away without paying any fine ... just a fix-it warning.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm getting 35% all around, 3M Color Stable, $200.

When you clean your tinted windows make sure that you use a cleaner WITHOUT Ammonia. If not then it will fade the tint.

Stoners glass cleaner works best.

You have got to be kidding me. There are so many more important issues in each of our communities than ticketing people who have tinted windows. Every time I hear a story like this it makes my blood boil. Talk about waste in our city budgets!

Good advice. I never would have thought of that.

No shit. He should be going after those young kids with the 5/15/20 % tints. 35% is not bad at all.

Yes, they go one runs here in the CSRA area and the tickets are in $200-$300 range. I know folks who had to peel it out or get a ticket.

...oh no mole skin used on mine either.

I've been using this stuff for years. I assume it works as well?

Says it is okay for tinted windows

I would have thought it would be more potent as their hand cleaner is pretty gritty stuff.

Moleskin was critical on the 3G TL, but the consensus seems to be not necessary on the 4G. My 2009 TL has been tinted for 6 months with no moleskin, and there are no scratches or issues.
