So im driving and i see a yellow light ahead of me so i slow down and roll to a stop, and this guy behind me is speeding up for some reason , and he hits the car right at the back!

His front of his car was almost gone lol, but luckly since the TL is an amazing car the back of my car wasn't too badly hurt.

That's too bad. Some idiots will just gun the gas at yellow assuming the driver ahead of them will do the same.....recipe for disaster.

 

Guy with a SUV did the same thing last week to my wife as she was driving to work. Was taking a left and there was a yellow light so she stopped and this guy blew around her to make the turn and he barely missed the car on the other side going through the intersection.

She said she wished he hit the other car because she was so pissed she would have waited for the cops to come to tell them what he did.

Nowadays you really need to drive defencively and watch out the other drivers around you because there are a lot of people out there who just don't know how to drive.

 

ppl are just so URGH! ...glad ur ok and hopefully the damage isnt too costly!

 

Unfortunatly "driving defensively" does NOT include running lights because the person behind you is 1.) in a hurry and/or 2.) not paying attention.

I got rear ended in my 2010 TL about two months ago. It took about six weeks to get it fixed, partly because of an insurance approval delay but mostly because parts aren't available yet for the 6MT version. Uggah.

 

Acura's are incredibly strong cars. I got rear ended in my parents' old RDX last summer. i got out of the car and walked to the rear expecting a disaster zone. this is what i saw:







Woman hit me at around 30-40 mph. her Volvo XC70 was totaled. RDX was in the shop for 5 weeks. the bill came to about $4500. thank god i didnt have to pay a dime.

 

I got hit by an old guy on the rear bumper... have couple scratches and it is dented... the bad thing is that the old guy ran away so couldn't do anything

but dude that sucks i feel your pain. my TL is in the shop right now (for almost 3 weeks) cuz of an accident

 

there are red-light camera's in many intersections here in NC-Thanks to the numerous redlight runners and accidents.

In a rear-end collision the rear vehicle always suffers more damage due to the crumple zones of the front which are designed to absorb impact. If you watch crash-test videos usually the front of the car up to the passenger compartment crumples up but the steel around the passenger compartment stays intact.

The rear of vehicles usually are pretty stout in comparison to the front.

 

In addition, the rear driver is applying the brakes (hopefully!) and the car nose dives, going under the car in front.

I tried to follow him but he drove pretty fast to avoid taking care of the problem...

i feel your pain. My TL got rear ended Friday night sitting at a red light. I was sitting in the far right lane, the left lane turn only light went green The car next to me jumped into the middle of the intersection car behind me did the same thing and ended up rear ending me!

Pulled into a parking lot to get his info. Once i was commited to the turn he nailed it and when straight. By the time i got back out i could not find him!!!

No plate but if i see the car and him i will know it. I have seen it around my neighborhood.

My car was 2 weeks 1 day old!!

6 months ago a kid t-boned me in my 07 TL with his POS $500 Chevy impala fitted with $4000 wheels and evidently no brakes. He destroyed the TL's driver side rear door. He pulled ahead of me and stopped on the side of the road. I pulled in behind him we got out of our cars and I walked up to talk to him. As soon as I was away from my car he jumped back in his and took off.

We were on a city 4 lane city headed out of town and he was really trying to get away. I drove carefully but with enough speed to keep him in sight. As soon as we were on open road I pushed the TL and got right up on his ass and stayed there, there was nothing he could do to lose me. The POS Chevy didn't have the speed to get away from the TL. I got his tag # and started calling 911 when he pulled over.

The kid stopped and got out of his car profusely apologizing and crying. He called his mother and I called the Police. His insurance paid the claim. The door was crushed but the rest of the car was intact and surprisingly the door frame was not deformed. I got a new door that fit perfectly. I can't tell that the door has been replaced. I left the kid with the police, his mother and a big boyfriend she brought along. Hope they worked things out.
I was proud of my TL!!
