What about the value of OEM cats tho?

Been thinking about selling my oem cats cuz house renovations be expensive. Just finished a basement Reno today so now I'm looking to a kitchen Reno in the future. I remembered hearing these parts can scrap for a lot.

So I looked up a scrap guy off Kijiji and he offered 200 each aka $600 CAD total for them. Is this a good deal? Do they have more value to actually be used again or more as scrap? I have all original gaskets and hardware. 110000 kilometers on them.

for scrap; needs to be more than a few cats...to get any value out of them...ie; 35-80 catalytic converters.

it would be best for you to sell them to someone who needs them to pass emissions. brand new they go for thousands.
so, by giving a used discount price, it will greatly help out the person who desperately needs them to pass emissions

That's exactly what makes me hesitate. I'd hate to scrap them if they can be used again. But $600 seems hard to beat. I'm Little shocked a scrap person will literally come to my house and give me 600 for them...

Hey, money is money!
I misread your original post and skipped over the part where the Kijiji ad was a scrap guy.

I know over here in the States, we're getting hit with catalytic converter thefts.
Every state is getting hit hard by thieves...

police catch these guys with 40 cats in their trunk, as all it takes is a sawzall and 2-5mins of time

Stories like that are what got me thinking about selling mine. I mainly was just curious how much they go for. The price he offered is pretty nice and he must be reselling somewhere for a profit.

I agree. likely not scrapping it for the precious metals, likely gonna sit on them until someone that has a 4th Gen TL needs cats. probably has a junk yard where people come and browse to see if he has parts

Here in the States, brand new i think it's like $1000 for one. so, the scrap guy could be on the come up if he sells it anywhere close to brand new, while getting them from you for a decent price.

I gave mine away, because a friend needed cats to pass emissions. could never do that to a friend, sell them for a profit.

here in Seattle, WA Cats are going for about $150-$300 depending on the car it came off. My J-pipe is coming in 2 weeks. and my PCD little after that. i already have a guy willing to pay 450 for set. so that will get me my money back .
