TL Advance

Dealer in my area has a white 2013 TL Advance with 3k mi, former demo. Car is loaded, probably because it's an advance, I don't know. They are asking $39, 200, car is certified to 100 K or 7 years. I have an 08 TL type S with 87 K that I'm pretty happy with, but being human, I love change and can't stand prosperity, ie; no car payments. I told my wife I'm keeping this car forever ! But, if the right deal appeared, who knows. I'm going to offer $ 33 K and hope to get $ 16 K for mind in a trade.
I f I don't, then I'll just walk away and forget about it. Any thoughts ? Thank you in advance.

That's one aggressive offer. Doubt they will accept it. I can see maybe in the mid 30's. G'luck in any event.

Depends on if it's FWD or AWD. I paid $37,700 for my new 2013 FWD TL Advance 6 months ago and I see now on Truecar they go for about $36,100.

OP, get a written trade in value on the old TL first. Chances are the car you want is loaner and has had all kinds of shit-bags through it. Although you are guaranteed it got the full dealer service requirements.

AWD or don't bother.

I think what the OP is suggesting is an aggressive but not totally unfair deal. The car does have a few thousand miles on it. If 36K or so is the TrueCar price, maybe 33-34 is a good starting point considering that this is a demo imo.

If its FWD there is a chance they might bite somewhere near $33k - if its AWD you will probably get laughed at. Believe it or not their asking price isn't too off from a fair deal.

Issue is, we don't know. A link to the car would be best. C'mon, really, a peach CBP-Ebony AWD is going to command big $$$. Chances are it's not a 6MT. But you can't judge without more information.

Mine was a press car, so far I've been lucky, but I'll bet they hammered the shit out of my car and drove it as hard as it would go in the first 1,500 miles before I got it at 1,600 something (In fact the previous owner was HMCo.). Who knows, I may need to buy a new tranny next year...

Yeah, the 33K is not a bad deal with the assumption that this is a FWD TL Advance. No way a SH-AWD TL Advance would go that low even with some miles on it.

You may prove me wrong but I'm thinking there is no way they'll part with a '13 TL Advance SH-awd for $33k, even with 3k miles on it. Good luck to you.

Not only do they want $39,200 it's also certified,AWD,Advance, tech. I don't believe your going to get that deal. I think if they lower the car by 1,000 if your lucky.

I bought my 2012 AWD TL in CBP/Umber with Advance pakcage in July 2013 with 11k miles on it, paid $36,500 with an extended warranty to 100k.

I highly doubt the dealer will let that 2013 TL go for 33k maybe 35 if you're lucky.....good luck on the purchase though

Find out as much as you can about the true selling prices of the new cars and your used TL. Dealers in this area (Canada, totally different market but same principle) have been offering up to $7000 off a brand new 2013 because the '14s are here, plus the one you are considering is not 100% "new". If you have a good bank contact they can tell you the wholesale value of the car. Etc.
Your car with 87k is still just broken in though and it is worth a lot to you, not to them.
Good luck!

I got my 2012 Elite(Canadian Advanced) AWD for 33.5. Had about 20 Miles on it. Already a great deal, so i think anything under 38 is probably a great deal.

The car I was interested in sold over the weekend. A salesman told me they got pretty close to asking price $ 40K.
