Cool Thinking about 2012 TL...

So...after 6 months of my TSX I am bored with it. Now that it is in the 90s/100s down here it feels grossly underpowered on the highway. Around town still is not too bad, but I find myself wishing for the power my 07 G35 had.

Went and looked at the 11 G37S sedan, same as my 07 with some very minor changes.

Am going to try and drive a 12 TL this weekend. Really like the styling changes they made. Looking at the pics from those of you that have taken delivery - gorgeous! Ideally would like the Tech SH-AWD. Although, I am going to drive the FWD and AWD to see if it is worth the extra $.

Any thoughts/comments on how much they will discount these off sticker (or invoice)?? There seems to be plenty of inventory...

Due to low inventory for the '12s, especially for the SH-AWD Advanced models, discounts may be hard to come by.

If you drive the AWD.. you are going to be hooked!

Good luck and keep us posted

Will do.

Dealer I am visiting has quite a few 2012 TLs. (Very few TSXs though). Rough online inventory breakdown is as follows:

23 TL Base
13 TL Advance
9 TL Tech
5 TL AWD Tech
1 TL AWD Advance

With the exception of the few 'driver's' mostly on this board, down here in the south the demand is for FWD. Hopefully, that will be in my favor.

You should get a fair trade in price with all the shortages.

I'm test driving the FWD and AWD versions this morning. There is only one AWD Advance available in the entire state of Texas, and it has ebony interior ... no thanks; not in Houston. Dealer does have one FWD Advance available. The two AWDs he has are Techs.

The good news is this tidbit I read yesterday:

http://www.autoweek.com/article/2011...NEWS/110619898

If I find that I like the AWD better, the dealer will honor the same incentives/rates when the AWD Advance that I might want becomes available. Waiting will be torture...

The ebony interior is not as bad as you might think. I have had ebony in both my TL's, no additional problems at all.. in fact, I prefer it.. especially with the addition of vented seats. A lighter color interior will be as hot as a darker one because the interior of the car gets fricken hot down here... tan will be the same temp of black.

I have Tan in my truck and it shows every little mark and really bad when wearing black leather belts and coats.

There's another reason I stay away from black: it shows dust, dander, and blond dog hair much more easily. I understand what you're saying about lighter interiors showing marks. I try to be careful not to scrape shoes against anything near the foot well.

I had black in my 2001 CL, but I lived in Colorado at the time and didn't have a dog. My partner has an Altima with black interior and it looks dusty the day after cleaning it.

i stay away from light interior.. if you put a scratch in it, or smear something, you can defiantly see it..

also color tends to change on those seats..

and im sure most of you guys wear jeans.. and at some point, it will fade into the seats.

only bad thing about dark interior, it gets slightly hotter than light interior.. thats pretty much it...

Interesting...thanks for the article. Was under the impression there werent any incentives right now on the 12s (for leasing anyway).

How did the FWD vs AWD go? A couple dealers up here have the black/black AWD Advance in stock.

Acura is offering a 5 point sales tax reduction on new leases in Texas. I got a money factor if .00186 and 57% residual on a FWD Advance, 36 month / 15K miles.

I drove both back to back. There's no doubt that the SH-AWD corners better, but it also has a stiffer suspension, slightly more road noise, and worse MPG. In the end, I couldn't justify the higher cost of the SH-AWD, plus the dealer had exactly the color choice I wanted with the FWD Advance. I closed the deal this morning; take delivery next weekend. [Note: I'm out of town all next week so I'm letting them keep my baby while I'm gone].

I will see if the GM at Sterling McCall will let me take care of your car while you are gone

Drove the FWD and the AWD. Loved the AWD. Tighter suspension, better steering, fatter steering wheel, much better seats, better wheels, better sounding motor...I could go on. Went for a decent drive and had a hard time noticing the AWD...just didnt flog it enough I guess. Overall, came away very impressed.

Now to work out the numbers...

Good luck on the transaction.

To really "feel" the AWD you almost need to scare yourself. Hit a turn too hot; then instead of braking or coasting into the apex, hit the skinny pedal - hard. You'll feel the beauty and genius of SH-AWD.
