Tail light removal
*Open trunk..
*pop off the plastic center cover below the door handle thing
*Pull back the carpet on each side panel a bit
*unplug all brake and taillight bulbs
* you will see 4 or 5 thin long nuts
*remove those nuts then tap one with a light hammer and you will see it slide back..
*all done

Ive been searching and Im no newb. lol. But, is that IT? I had a 3G TL WDP before this and never took the lights out cause I didnt want to drop the bumper. Hmm. So you guys are painting the lights? I thought they had to be melted apart and done from the inside. Help me out. (Proceed to bash. as long as the info gets in there somewhere) lol
I don't know about painting them... that seems like they would reduce the light output... If I were doing mine, I would take them out and send them to JnC to dremel them open and paint the plastic on the inside and epoxy them back together. Either that or get some tint you can put on them.
Spray tinting them does not reduce the light output. I have driven behind my TL and when the lights are you cant see the red that well, but as soon as you step on the brakes its brighter than most taillights on the road.
Necro bump for those wanting to replace the rear turn signal bulbs... like myself.. MurkyRiversTL's (post #5) is right, you cannot unplug anything until the tail light is out.
They sure don't make it easy.. but could be worse, I guess
