Tein over XLR8-asap

Tein over XLR8-asap

Need help figuring out which are best, The Tein coilovers or the XLR8 coilovers

I have the teins on my TL ( switching to air soon) they are good quality coilovers but dont go very low. I think the XLR8s can go lower. The ride quality on teins is pretty good. I havent heard much about the xlr8s.

I don't have experience with the XLR8 coilovers, but the Teins were not too bad to install. I think I had a harder time figuring out how to take off the back seat then installing the actual coilovers. All the mounting points on the Teins lined up with the rest of the suspension nicely, and it is easy to adjust the ride height with the included wrenches as well as the dampening. I also added the EDFC so I could adjust the damping while in the car opposed to accessing the tops of the coilovers. The ride is very nice - At the softest setting, it feels like the stock suspension to me. Before I had the Teins, I had H&R sport springs with the stock struts and the ride was too rough for my taste.

I'm actually in the same boat. 9 out of 10 ppl are running the tein ss with great results and finding anybody with the xlr8 coilovers are far and few. I believe the member eazy has a set and seems to like them. The only reason the xlr8 are still in the running for me is that they are local so warrantly repairs can be handled quick and customer service seems to be very good.

really untill someone comes out and say that they truly have it running and have compared both, i think the safer choice is to run tein ss..

also you have the ability to run EDFC on tein ss so that is a plus for any of you that have the extra dough.

It really depends on what you want in a suspension. TEIN makes a great product and if you're looking for maximum ride comfort TEIN is the better choice. But the XLR8 ISC coilovers have advantages in other areas. The coilovers have a fully threaded shock body, aluminum upper mounts, more damping adjustment than the SS, more ride height adjustment, a longer warranty, and more options in terms of spring rates. And the XLR8 ISC lineup is newer to the scene but ISC is not. Do some searching and you will see.

It sucks that the Tein SS for the TL don't come with the pillow ball mounts. That being said I've had full Tein coilovers on 3 cars now (Tein SS' on RSX-S and one set of Tein Comfort Sports on a TSX) and I loved them. I'd have no reason to get anything else if I was going to go back to full coilovers again.
