sun visor keeps dropping down

Hi,

I have a 2014 TL with FWD and Tech. The sun visor on the driver's side will not stay all the way up. It keeps dropping down an inch or two. I just bought the car less than 3 months ago. I took it to the dealer and they said they would replace the visor under warranty. That was over 2 months ago! They claim that the distributor does not have any in stock. I find it hard to believe that there are none of these available in the entire US.

I have not seen this mentioned much here, but I googled and apparently I'm not the only one with this problem. In fact, my wife found a link to a web site that offered replacements for this known defective part, but I don't want to pay for a new visor if it's covered under warranty.

Do others on this list have this problem? Just curious. Did you get yours replaced? Did it take a long time? I don't know if the shortage is because too few or too many people need a replacement. I gather it's the latter.

Thanks,

Gregg

I have a 2012 with this problem but only noticed it after some warranty work was done that required the dropping of the headliner. Next time I go in I'm going to ask about it because I hit my hair on it sometimes and it's annoying.

I'm trying to get it fixed under warranty. My complaint is not that something was wrong with my new TL, but rather that it's taking so long to fix.

They ordered the part over 2 months ago and it still hasn't come in. That seems pretty bad. What good is a warranty if they can simply say the parts are on backorder indefinitely. It's only a sun visor, but I'd be pretty mad if I had to wait this long for a more important part.

It's not that I don't believe they are out of stock, but it seems like they could have replenished their stock by now.

Sorry to hear about your problem, although, thankfully, it sounds minor (to me). I have not had the same problem, but could it be that what's needed is not a new visor, but a new clip that the visor snaps into?

Have you tried another dealer?

OP, Search before you start another "visor" thread.

I have this same problem with my passenger side visor. I plan to get it fixed before my warranty expires but I'm not in a rush because I hate dropping my car off anywhere.

If I swing it out and kind of twist it up, I hear a click and then the visor rests against the headliner like it should.
