Shiney and New

Just picked up a '13 TL Special Edition. I got Silver with Ebony interior. I came from a Maxima (which I hated for every minute that I had it) so this was a sweet change of pace. The drove is smooth and responsive, the engine offers a ton of power, the interior is clean and refined. All and all this is a major upgrade from my previous P.O.S. and the price tag was too much higher.

This car makes me remember driving my '08 A4 Quattro which I missed giving back since the minute I handed over the keys. The look and the feel of the interior is quite similar in some aspects which makes me appreciate the car even more. This car may be a keeper!

The Maxima was a '10. I only had 24k on it when returned and the amount of noises it made was unbearable. Could not wait to get rid of it!

I asked because my friend has an '09 and another has a '13. I thought the cabin was moderately quiet. Compared to the TL though was when I noticed a difference. The 4G is much more refined. You can see, feel and hear the difference. Maxima has a lot more road noise but I'm thinking it could be just the tires. The engine on the 4G is butter smooth too. The Max has a raw feel to it which I kinda like.

Funny, our HVAC guy hated the Acura, went with Maxima. I think he's in the minority though...

Congrats anyhow.

Congrats! In for pics. I'm sure the CVT didn't help the Maxima's cause. I had a 5th gen 5MT that I really liked. The Maxima as a 4DSC had been dead and gone for a while now, though.

Yeah there is an ass for every seat... I was on a Maxima forum for about a minute and all they did is shred the TL.... I don't think many people actually take the time to drive both. I got the Maxima simply for price. It was a rather clunky drive. The exterior styling is decent but the interior felt very cheap and not well thought out. There was not attention paid to the ergonomics of the interior. While they throw in a lot of options that are not either standard or available on the TL, I feel it is still overpriced. The mileage was atrocious considering that for the most part I drive like an old man. Cabin noise was not terrible but definitely got worse at speeds over 55. My 2001 Maxima was fart better in my opinion.

The TL is hands down an all around better car.

Congrats and nice upgrade from a Maxima! Nissan is not luxury compared to Acura.

Post up pics when you get a chance, and welcome to the forum!

Congrats! Post pictures. Any comments in particular they made as to why the MAx > TL ? I'm curious to know.

Apparently I can not post pics yet as I have just registered with the site today. As soon as I can I will.

Maxima forums would say pretty generic things. Maxima has more horsepower, nicer exterior styling, precision handling, blah blah blah. I got my '10 maxima for one reason..... $349 bucks a month. Cheap cheap cheap.

Funny, i've got a 2012 Maxima w/Sport Pkg and a 2012 TL SH-AWD. TL is for sure better fit, finnish, and driving machine, but the Maxima is by no way a POS. It's actually a pretty impressive car. Nicely equiped, high quality interior (similar to the G37 we had) Maxima is quite, and powerful. Only downside is the CVT, wish it had a regular transmission, but the sport mode makes it feel like an Auto, and the paddles are quick and fun. I think the Maxima is a great car. Not as good as the TL, but still great.

That's what's great about opinions Acura2010. They cant be wrong. You obviously have a better experience then I did. And I had 3 Maximas but the 10 failed in my opinion. I personally felt the interior was very lack luster. Blocky and not well thought out. Dash was dull and boring. The materials were cheap and clunky. The plastic interior was creaking horrendously by the time I gave it back. I did not have the sport package so did not experience the paddle shifters. The engine did offer good power and handled decent but the trans killed it's potential.

I had and '01, '04 and then the '10. While the car leased ridiculously cheap I think it's for a reason. They overprice the cars so people think they are getting a great deal when the lease price is so low.

The car I had prior to the Max was an '08 A4. Stepping into the Max was a huge downgrade in my opinion even though they we similarly priced. My father in law still has a loaded 2012 max w/ Sport and he "likes" it a lot but after driving the TL yesterday he also agreed that there is a major difference in quality.

I guess I am using "POS" as a relative term. There are far worse cars out there of course.

Nice! I remember hearing that the special edition bumpers and side skirts had the lip kit integrated into the bumpers?

I just picked up my new 2013 TL Tech yesterday. It was the last one on the lot; burgundy/parchment. Couldn't be happier. Coming from an 02 TL Type-S I am VERY happy.

I thought it was the A-Spec in Canada that had the lip kit added to the vehicle....and unlike the appearance in the picture on the Acura website (Canada), the pieces were the "added on" pieces and not an integrated bumper like the TSX was in the 2009-2011 MY.

Congrats. I went from a '96 Maxima SE 5MT I had owned since '98 to a 2010 TL SH-AWD 6MT. Needless to say, night and day doesn't begin to describe the difference and it's not a fair comparison to begin with. The Maxima felt like it was going faster than it was, while with the TL the opposite is true (though all near-lux cars are a bit detached from a sensory perspective these days). I got a relatively care-free 160k miles out of the the Max, and I hope to do the same with the TL. Also, that 3.0 was smooth as silk right to the end.

Yep, I had a 2001 Max 20th AE 5MT. When they increased the displacement of the VQ to 3.5 and 3.7 liters, they lost that smoothness. Somehow, Honda figured out how to keep their 3.7 smooth - might have something to do with SOHC vs. DOHC. I went TL in 2010 vs. G37 because of the smoother engine with better bottom end gearing.

Great looking car - congrats!

It's funny how the 4G TL has evolved from one of the ugliest things around (with that original beak!) to now one of the best looking and most distinctive sedans around.

Just as Acura was about to get it just right, they have decided to go totally bland/boring with that RLX. God only knows what they will do to the TLX design......

Mine are 18s. I really like them too. The wheels and the spoiler are the main reasons I bought the SE. That and I really didn't want the tech package with the factory nav system.

I agree. Spoiler is 4G TL is a must. I got the advance model for that reason and because I don't to deal with aftermarket audio upgrade. SH-AWD hasn't released for the 12' model at the time.

The only thing I miss from my 02 TL Type-S are the 18" wheels/tires I had installed. Not sure that the 13 TL really needs them, though, as the handling is every bit as good as the old car and then some.

Sammy... Are the center caps on your wheels the same smoked chrome as the wheel itself or are they standard chrome? Mine are standard chrome and they seem odd as they contrast the wheels.
