Rust?

So I started noticing this about three months after I bought my TL...little specks of orange/rust colored marks, appearing on the fenders right after the wheels and a little on the rear bumper. I took it to the dealer and they said it was from brake dust accumulating on the body and then semi rusting in the clear coat. Not sure if this is covered under warranty or not. Has anyone else had this problem, if so, what did you do to get rid of them and prevent future occurrences. No matter how much I wax my car, they remain, quite annoyed by it. Thanks for any help or advice rendered.

Do a google search for "rail dust". Shows up like crazy on light cars. I have a white Nissan and have to use polishing compound to get rid of it.

PS. It will return

no need for a compound, in fact, if you try to polish the rail dust or brake dust particals that are embedded in your clearcoat, you will scratch it all up causing further damage to your clear....

claybar is what your looking for, head on over to the wash and wax section and do a search for claying your car...

or you can go to autogeek.net and look at the detailing how to section and click on the how to clay video and it will explain everything...

Clay bar did not work for me. Watered down polishing compound followed by a fresh coat of wax is what I had to do.

Do they look like a tiny pin head? I use the bug & tar remover and it seems to work for me. PIA though!

I would say use clay bar. You can read about it all over the net.
