Rubber seals coming off 2011 TL

I’ve noticed in the past year, the rubber seals around my passenger roof/ door and now windshield are coming up. I’ve never had this problem before. Anyone had this problem? Ballpark price to repair?

Mechanically, my car runs great (approx. 145k miles). I’ve kept up with the maintenance and now WFH full-time since COVID, so I’m putting less than 10k miles/year on it. All that said, I would like to keep this car.

Thanks in advance.

Windshield is cheap and can be done by any auto glass place. Which ones on the door? Can you attach a picture?

If you're referring to the rubber strips that border the silver roof trim strip above the doors and down the A and C pillars - to replace it as new you have to buy the entire trim assembly and replace that. Those rubber strips don't have any leak prevention duty - they are purely cosmetic. Mine have peeled off a bit around the passenger side windshield and front door. I just snip it off where it sticks up so it doesn't flap in the wind.

They fell apart a long time ago, but I don't see the point in investing $250(for pair) in a 13 year old car. https://acurazine.com/forums/4g-tl-p...cement-980966/

if you're referring to the chrome drip molding dregsfan and altair47, it's a pricey fix. I paid 170+tax so it was almost $200 for it. Next time one falls apart, I'm finding a cheaper solution.

Thanks for the posts on this topic. This has been happening to my 2013 TL for the last couple years in various spots and I’m relieved to know it’s not going to create an issue with leaks as I’ve been apprehensive that they could appear at any time with this trim coming loose. Appreciate the info!

I've been noticing cracked/frayed rubber pieces along the areas where they should be sealed on the roof in my 2012. About two weeks ago, when I was driving home on the highway, a sudden noise began that alarmed me. I immediately turned off the headunit and was skeptical whether I should pull over and inspect. I took the very next exit to stop. The culprit was a piece of the rubber sealant/molding that peeled off and the wind was buffeting it against the side mirror. From the posts I've read online, it's fairly common, and I find that odd. My 2007 TL Type-S does not have this issue.

This is a common problem on the 4G. I just snip off where it stops flapping.
The sunroof also has a rubber grommet that slides off its place and makes a flapping noise with sunroof tilted. Luckily, you can slide it back into place from outside with window opened all the way back.

My 2011 also seems to have this issue in some locations, although it doesn't appear to be as much as my 2012. With more miles, I assumed the 2011 would've been in worse condition, however it's not the case.

My 2012 is doing the same thing on both side..I took it to the Acura dealer they wanted 536.76 to replace it. I asked if it served any purpose, they said no…so I just keep snipping it off where it is coming off.
