Really, Really (!!!) Disappointing Dealership Experience
Really, Really (!!!) Disappointing Dealership Experience
My friend was going back and forth between several cars. He went to Rallye Acura in Roslyn NY and drove the AWD 4G and fell in love. He was told by the salesman that it would be no problem whatsoever to get the car in grigio ("I have one I can get for you in two days" said the salesman). Well three weeks and myriad phone calls later, no AWD/grigio car. Lies, lies and more lies. Finally the sales mgr. said they "would have to build" him the car and it "might" be ready in about five weeks. This was after his present lease was up and they were less than clear about what he could do in the interim. Now this guy probably would have gone for the polished metal metallic but for the fact that, by then, it had become a matter of principle. He DESPISED being lied to time after time by virtually everyone in the dealership. So he bailed on the whole deal, cancelled his deposit and got another car.
Good job Rallye! You sure know how to treat a customer. In an era where Acura is lucky to move 2000 units a month you had a confirmed sale and simply because of your dispicable lying and failure to return phone calls you blew it. My friend would have received better, more courteous and professional service if he had been in the market for a friggin' Kia.
Disgusting!!!

As for Paragon, you are 100% correct!!! They are, without a doubt, the worst dealership (of any brand) in the entire northeast U.S. "Scum" doesn't begin to describe them adequately. I wouldn't buy a toothpick from them.
Why Acura doesn't pull their dealer's license is beyond me.
And it sure doesn't reflect well on Acura. Say what you will about Lexus, but you'll never find a Lexus dealership like that.

If you and your friend feel you have not been done wrong you should contact Acura and complain about them. I have purchased two Acuras this year and in both cases had a call about my dealings with the dealership. I think they may want to know.
I'm not 100% sure, but the name "Chris" sticks in my mind. I'll ask him. I worked with Danny and, as I already said, the experience was pleasant and without unfortunate surprises.
Does Chris last name begin with W. I have been dealing with him via email to get a good price. It's funny how you guys mentioned Rallye and Paragona cuz I was thinking doing business with one of those dealership. SMH
OMG....do yourself a favor and cross Paragon off your list. They are the Bernie Madoff of car dealerships. Nothing but gold chains, pinky rings and "what do I have to do to put you in a car today."
LOL..they used that line on me. I got a quote for TSX and I got them down to 27,500 and he said the deal is only for today. ha
As I have said, this is where I got my last 2 TL's from. Nothing but the best! PM is what I wanted and had it the next day from the LI lot.

I've been shopping for the TL and it's been a big headache here on Long Island.
The idiots at Smithtown don't return calls or e-mails, and then they lie about it.
The guy at BayShore screwed me over in leading me to think that his quotes included taxes, which is what was requested.
Brooklyn Acura (yes not technically considered Long Island) the shadiest person I've ever spoken to in my life, I had to tell him to "go to hell" on the phone because he was screwing me around.

I actually had my best experience at Smithtown Acura contrary to the previous post above me. My parents and I leased an 07 RDX and an 08 TSX from them and each time got exactly what color we wanted, without waiting more than a couple days. Lease return on the RDX went flawlessly, and it will be the same when the TSX goes back this October. We have never been lied to at this place. We went through Costco both times so we were set up with a guy named Greg Vigna, or something along those lines. He was excellent and kept in touch with us throughout the years.
Service department is expensive but I think all of the dealers are like that. I recently put my 2003 TL-S in for 105k service and they gave me a loaner 2010 TL SH-AWD w/Tech for 2 days. I wish I had the money for that, wow. It was an amazing couple days. I would have settled for a TSX loaner.
No, I dont work for Smithtown Acura haha. I am just pleasantly surprised how much better they are than other dealers on Long Island, since its well known that most LI car dealerships are just awful.

Sadly, this is typical for car sales people. The lies are a common practice. It sounds to me that they have inventory sitting for a loooooong time and they wanted to move it. I'm sure somebody has the Grigio but they probably had 5 diamond pearls, 10 polished metals and 69 maya bronze that they wanted to unload to your friend.
Thats too bad.
I always think that cars should be purchased from a vending machine...car companies would make more money and sell more units sans the sales people.

Bad Dealer Experience/Good Dealer Experience
We own four Acuras and 3 have been purchased from Davis Acura in Langhorne PA. They are fair, responsive, no non-sense and have provided great pricing. Sussman Acura in Jenkintown ,PA OTOH are a bunch of thieves. I purchased a 2007 RDX from them. I went back recently to trade that car in and get a new SH-AWD. They not only tried to abuse me on the price but didn't even attempt to offer me the incentives that Acura was advertising. I wouldn't buy another car from this dealer if they were the only Acura store for 500 miles.
lol. I remember when I was looking to get out of my RSX and into a new 2004 TL (at the time) I went to Paragon and spoke to this guy. I'll never forget his name, it was actually Tom Knockoff (or his name was pronounced this way). Greasy ass guy with a fake Rolex watch. I was young 19 or 20 at the time and he tried his best to take advantage of me. He was throwing all these numbers at my head about my upside down on the RSX and balloon payments on the TL. I asked for the numbers in writing so I can understand them better and he said, and I quote; "We don't print things out, we make deals". Five more minutes of him trying to dance circles around my head and me calling him out on it he cursed me out and told me I was wasting his time and to leave. lol, no problem I said, goodbye Tom Knockoff.
