Ready to purchase, but could use advice first
I'm 90% confident that I will be getting a new Acura TL with Advance package (want those "cooling" seats), 10% chance I'd go AWD with Advance. I have a 2008 BMW 528i with 47,000 miles to trade in and I think that means I would qualify for an extra $1,000 or $1,500 rebate. ("Conquest" I think) Before this BMW I had purchased a 2006 TL new (Loyalty rebate?). Stayed away for a few years because of the funky grill.
My question is I really don't know what a "great" price looks like for the car. The Acura site shows MSRP for about $43,000 and $46,000. Just curious with current rebates, etc... what my offer should be. I'm not looking to beat the dealer out of anything, just don't want to get taken for a ride.
Thanks!

Go to Edmund's and look up invoice, you should be able to to get at least $3500 below invoice since you have a competing luxury brand. Drive both the FWD and TECH, there is a substantial difference in the ride and handling.
If you scroll down it will show any incentive deductions. When I bring it up it shows $0 in incentives, so you should get the $1500 on top of that. BTW, for my area it shows the pricing on the AWD advanced at a hair over $42k. Double check edmunds and then send out your emails to the online sales mangers saying what you want to pay for the car. I wouldn't include loyalty money or the fact you're trading in your deal. That way you can maximize your price and get it settled before you go into the dealer. Most likely the dealer will try and not give up the entire rebate unless you specifically know about it.

You make a good point. However, I would only have to pay taxes on the difference of the trade-in, potentially saving me an additional $1,000. Paying 6% tax on $22,000 would be better than paying 6% of $40,000. This is of course assuming I could also get the $1,500 rebate, and then of course there is not having the hassle of selling the car.
