Quick Question About Locking The Car...

....When you lock the car from the key fob (or whatever they're called these days) I find that the first press of the lock button locks all the doors and arms the alarm. There's no chirp though and the lights don't flash. If I press the lock button a second time, the car chirps and the lights do flash.

Does anyone know what's going on with this second lock press? The first one seems to take care of everything you'd need it to do (lock all doors and arm the alarm).

I am wondering the same. And also, under what circumstances does the car lock itself? I know the doors have locked on their own before....

The second time is a confirmation beep, in case someone had their door open when you pressed it the first time.

The doors will relock after 15, 30, etc. seconds after the car has been unlocked, its in the MID setup.

So only if you unlock it with the remote and don't get in the car, they will relock? I believe a few times, i've gotten out of the car, keys in pocket walked away and the car locked. Does it? Or am I crazy? lol

also if you didnt know already if you press the unlock button twice and hold the button down....all windows will go down based on how long you press the button. Its good to air out the car before you get in during those hot ass days.

Is there a way to get the windows to close if you forgot to close them and you're already out of the car?

I tried to use the actual key in the door and hold it in the "lock" position. All that did was lock the doors.

I was wondering the same thing about the locking. Is there a way for the lights to flash and give the chirp on the first press of the key fob? You should be able to close the windows with the key in the door by turning it to lock and holding it. You can't close the windows by holding the lock button on the key fob.

to close the windows after exiting the car use the key to lock it once, then turn it again and hold
