Pimple on the chrome trim under drivers window

I just picked up my 2014 TL and it was at night. In the morning while admiring it I noticed there is a pencil eraser sized pimple on the chrome trim under drivers window, like it was pushed out from the inside.

I have yet to bring it to the dealer but my question is does the door panel need to come off to remove this trim piece?

I may just leave it alone if that is the case and I am sure taking the panel off will create rattles and the car is tight right now.

Those pieces on the door are really inexpensive. I think I paid less than $45 (parts) to fix mine. Take it in.

I looked at the service manual and it looks like the inner door panel does have to come off to access the screw to remove that trim piece. Odds are I am better off leaving it alone.

I just hate when a new car is not "perfect"

Agree. Try not to take apart panels and consoles, etc., unless it's absolutely necessary.

They will never be the same again, once they've been taken apart and put back together.

Just an idea OP, some people on here put black vinyl on their chrome trim. That may help hide it a bit (especially a matte black). I've only seen it on CBP and WDP and really only liked it on the latter but figured I'd throw it out there regardless.

So I took it to the dealer. The head service writer said he is afraid they will do more harm replacing the part than leaving it.

If it still annoys me by the first oil change I guess I will have them do it then.

Yes that was a bit disconcerting to say the least.

Tell the sales guy what the tech told you and tell him you want another car.

When you bring it in on the next oil change, check for any scratches on door, etc. You don't want to have the dimple fixed but with some collateral damage scratches to your car (inside and outside) when the used a tool to pry the part out.

Agree. This is BS. You did say it was a '14, right? If so, it HAS to be perfect. If they fix it and cause more problems, they fix those problems until it is right. Or, get a new car.

IMO, you should not wait for the next oil change. Handle it now.
