Phone Holder?

Well, I'm moving from my hopefully soon to be sold decked out 350Z to my wife's TL (She got the new MDX).

Anyways, super happy about the car. The only thing trying to find a way to install some soft of phone holder. There really is not flat vertical or horizontal surface for me to mount my suction assisted phone holder.

What do you all use to hold your phone? I could just leave it on the center cup area, but wanted to find a better one if possible. My search didn't come up with anything specific for the TL.

Thanks

I am using this and seems to holding up fine and fits my phone perfectly.

Put it on the right side of the middle vent so it doesn't obstruct back up camera screen while reversing.

I have a Nokia Lumia and I'm using a specific phone holder/charger that made for my Nokia as I don't like those typical universal phone holder. You can find it here www.proclipusa.com

I also made a custom bracket instead of buying $40 ProFit kit.

I have an Otter Box Defender with holster for my Iphone 5s and simply keep it clipped to my belt - works for me.

I was looking for a holder too, but then I realized if I use bluetooth and pair it I don't really need to take phone out of the pocket. Even to play music.

I use the secret compartment in the arm rest. My phone is connected through bluetooth for calls, talk to text, and Music. NAV gives me the directions when I need them. Having the phone out is just an extra distraction from driving and extra annoying light from the cabin.

To be honest, since the front passenger seat is empty most of the time, I just plop my cell phone there. Easy access.

I use a vent mounted holder from Bracketron:

Amazon.com: Bracketron PHV-202-BL Grip-iT GPS and Mobile Device Holder (Black): GPS & Navigation Amazon.com: Bracketron PHV-202-BL Grip-iT GPS and Mobile Device Holder (Black): GPS & Navigation

It works well, but be careful. On my first try, I dropped the spring clip into the vent. Fortunately the vent was closed and my wife was able to fish it out with tweezers and a paperclip; the rattling would have driven me nuts. Bracketron, however, does give free replacement spring clips, so it must be a common occurrence.

Thanks all for all the suggestions. I didn't even know about the CD mounted option, wow, that's really cool. Great advice.

I'm really leaning towards the CD one. They have the magnetic coin and the one that grabs on to the phone. Leaning towards the one in the grabber.

Any possibility of damaging the CD slot with that thing?

I too have the same CD slot holder. No damage and even works when a CD is in the player and playing (but that is a hassle . . . which is not a real problem with all our music ripped to the hard drive).

Great location!

I had a little vent mount that was great in my old car. I don't use it in my TL, but used it when i rented a car and needed my phone as a gps... they cost a couple bucks on ebay.

doesnt everypone have that small slot under the armrest that pops right out? My phone fits perfectly in there. why waste money on a phone holder for? the a previous poster just mentioned, they look cheap and tacky anyway. I make sure my bluetooth is on and just leave in that small compartment under the armrest.

In NYS if you look down at the phone for any reason you risk getting a texting while driving ticket. With it mounted it looks like you're adjusting the radio, etc. This would help if you're streaming music.

same. while i agree the little armrest holder is very cool, you still have to hold the phone to try to change music, etc. with it attached, it does free up you hand somewhat, and keeps the phone closer to eye level as oppsed to having to look down and taking eye more off the road. i'll try the holder. if it's not too useful, i'll just put on the cup holder slide thing.. otherwise like to try the cd phone holder for sure

Not to mention the variety of driving related apps like Waze and Trapster (that alert to road conditions and police locations) that can come in handy on road trips.

so i got and installed the montek kit, but got the magnetic one instead of the grabber kind. i can't tell you how awesome this product is. it's THE easiest phone holder i've ever gotten. just attaches magnetically, and detaches really fast when needed. but the magnet is strong enough that it holds the phone really well with no slide at all during my 30 min commute today.

really really cool product

Looked on their web site. How does the "dash board grove" version work if it isnt designed for the CD slot? What other dashboard groves wotk?

Good point. I didn't even know about the dashboard groove option.

Check out the link below. It shows all different ways you can use it, including the dashboard groove.

Still pretty good device. I'm impressed every time I use it.
