Oil viscosity question.

Oil viscosity question.
I've got a question, I have a 2010 SH-AWD and i've noticed that I'm having to add oil everytime I'm near needing an oil change. Not sure on how many miles it's taking or not really paying attention to how much oil I've had to add the last couple of times. ( I'm in process of documenting miles vs how much oil I'm having to add)
1st - Is this burning oil normal? is anyone else experiencing or seen this
2nd- a guy auto zone told me I could change the oil viscosity to a thicker oil from the 5w-20 to stop this. He states the only reason Acura has you run this oil is for fuel economy. Any truth to this? anyone ever run a different oil viscosity to combat this? ( Made a small amount of sense but not wholly sold as I know acura does extensive testing to see what oil will allow their engine to perfom the best)

it is true that Honda went to 0w-20 for CAFE regulations (Corporate Average Fuel Economy)
however, I dont think going to a heavier weight will solve your problem.
you indeed can move to a heavier weight if you want a 5w-30 wont harm anything.
the 3.7L engines do see oil consumption issues, so it's not isolated to just you.

Since my last oil change and last week, my MID shows 70% oil life (2000km driven). I topped off with 1/2 quart using 10W30 oil as that's what I had lying around . I don't it will make much difference as I am adding a small fraction to existing 5W20 grade. Once the warranty expires, I think I will go to 5W30 in summer months as a trial.

I'm running 5W-30 in the summer and 5W-20 in the winter. The whole notion of "all-weather" viscosity makes no sense to me. Next summer, I might even go a bit thicker.
