My intro and a few questions...

Picked up a 2012 Black on Black TL, FWD (unofrtunately but deal was to good to pas up), has every option and is a good looking car.

I come from a BMW 335. I am not even going to pretend the drive of the Acura is as good because it simply isn't, but I do like this car better than my 335.

Love the technology in the car; this coming from a guy who isn't very much into cars with a million and one features... I always liked driving a car properly, and not one that allows me to check my twitter feed as I drive. I digress, the TL is great on that regard. The car is incredibly comfortable and the cockpit is truly a nice place to sit and be.

A few things that I want clarified...

- Is there any way I can leave the radio on when the car is turned off? Why does the radio have to turn off and then to turn it back on you have to put it in accessory? I haven't had this in a car since my 96 Jetta.

- The turning signals stalks feel cheap, but I am just being picky.

- Why do I have a symbol on the cluster that tells me my headlights are on? I know they are on.... I can see them.

- The gas cap is finicky and cheap.

- No digital time on my drivers dash... I always have to look over and it's slightly irritating.

I am mostly just complaining over little things that I loved about my old car, and I am just getting accustomed to this one.

If someone could help me out with the radio question, that would be great, it is dirving me nuts!

Love my new TL, German cars are not what they are made out to be

Leave your foot off the brake when you push the start button to turn off the car and it will automatically go into accessory mode

Odd is quite spot on. However I guess not all cars need it. It is actually quite brilliant to drive at night and have no symbols on your dash lit up...

I was considering a 335i for my next car, until I read on a couple Bimmer forums that you don’t want to own the car out of warranty. Seems like people said the ownership costs out of pocket for the TT 6 cylinder were pretty high? I’d be curious to hear your thoughts since you owned one.

A FWD TL won't drive quite the same, but I think you will enjoy keeping more money in your pocket.

Here is my full on review on it:

Do I recommend it? No. If you do it anyway, GET THE WARRANTY.

Hey man,
Just went out to try it, and it does not work... I turned the car off without depressing the brake and the bluetooth audio went off. Tried the radio, same thing. Is there a setting i have to configure?

hmmm I'll have to let someone with an auto transmission answer that. For me the call continues after I hit START button... I have to switch the phone to handset mode, or end the call prior to leaving the car.

If your on a call with the blue tooth it will stay on. Just push the start button with the car in park. Radio will still be active and will not shut off until the door is opened.

If you want the radio to stay on, place the car in neutral and push the button. Car goes to accessory mode and then shift to park. Other than that enjoy the car

dirtyo2000 has responded, but he mentioned leaning the car in park. I believe he meant to say, leave it in gear. Turn the car off, then shift to park. The radio will stay on.

This addresses the issue I see several times a day...although you can "see" you have lights on, many can't tell the difference between DRLs and headlights. They'll travel around at night with their lights off, thinking that they are on, since they can see a beam in front of them. Trouble is, they have no tail lights. Sunset where I am (north) is 4:45 today. By late December, it'll be by 4:05 or so. That leaves a lot of time to be driving around with no tails.

When you went outside to try it, just a guess, but did you leave your drivers door open? If you did this is why the audio/bluetooth shut off..

Congrats on your TL and welcome to AZ.

We have automatic lights when they are set to "automatic". When they are set to "off", then we have lights that are off. DRL's are always automatic, though, even when the lights are set to off (or parking lights).

Wow, just read your thread about your 335i, you won't have to worry about ever getting hit with repair or service issues like that with the TL, especially the FWD model which has almost no known problems. I've had mine for 2 years and not had to do anything other than regular maintenance.

Welcome to the forums.

I am very glad to have the reassurance. It really is important in a modern car.

Welcome to AZ. Interesting read on your 335 (and the folks on the BMW forum who responded to you with their own set of problems). As the owner of several Acuras in past 22 years, thankfully, I just don't even think about these types of issues. I think you'll be similarly quite happy with your TL.
