LONGEST Haul (on one full tank)

What's the highest range (km or mi) you've achieved on one full tank of gas?

I'd like to know what's the most any of you have gotten out of one tank of gas, so I can know what to expect... and give me a challenge of something to try to beat at some point when I start to drive more conservatively

I'm most interested in TL's specifically like mine, but feel free to post yours too.

VARIABLES

Year/Model: 2010 TL SH-AWD tech
Transmission: manual
Fuel:
premium
KMs achieved: TBD

I'm assuming they all have the 70L tank capacity. And I'm guessing a long road trip will likely take the cake over any city driving

This is possible, when I went to Delaware from NY and back i was at 430 miles on one tank of gas and I had about 50+ miles left on my range before filling up again. I do drive the FWD so I do save more than on the AWD.

I got 800km on the last tank. And if the gauge is anything to go by, it's predicting 845km for this tank.
I drive very economically as well. The last tank had a can of BG44k mixed in!

City and highway I get about 550km to tank... I feel like my mileage is really poor tho.

Yeah, I think mine will be closer to that.
Mostly city driving (not just any city, awful Toronto downtown traffic) SH-AWD
and I'm a new owner, so I don't drive very nice.

I'll be happy if I get 600 on this tank.

why the BG44K? You put it in regularly? Isn't it like $25/can?

So I had a long trip this past weekend and my 2012 SH-AWD did 276 miles and burnt just 9.8 gallon. It was 100% HWY driving and average speed of 57 mph. So it is doable to get 500 miles for a tank even for a SHAWD!!!

I'm usually around 525km, longest I've seen is ~600km.

Cause I only picked up the car less than 2 weeks ago and not sure what fuel the previous owner used of what the dealer put in.

well, after some aggressive driving + mostly city driving in heavy, heavy traffic (only hwy kilometers were higher than normal speeds) I've gone through my first full tank:

474.2 KM... with a range of 51 remaining = ~525 KMs
12.8 L/100 km
37 km/h average speed
duration @ 13 hours

Not so hot, but driving conditions were bad and I drove not so nice. this next tank should be significantly better.

My second tank did 795km with 56km range left. On third tank now, It was predicting 917km but that all went to hell today revving like a kid so current estimate is 824km of which 460km has already been driven!

My best with the FWD 2010 TL Tech was 916 km (569 mi.). This was on I75 returning from Florida.

Slight improvement:
541 KM... with a range of 27 remaining = ~568 KMs
12.7 L/100 km
34 km/h average speed
duration @ 5h 44m

A LOT less driving in traffic this time around (lol less than half duration) but still mostly city driving.

Have you guys ever measured how big the actual tank is from almost bone dry?
Every time I fill up, the gas nozzle kicks back and yet I can still squeeze in another 9-10 litres.
On most other cars, once the kickback occurs, 2-5 litres is the max I can squeeze in.
And the first warning indicator is supposed to come on at approximately ~9.5 litres left.

Found this in my dropbox account. Highest range achieved on my 2012 FWD Tech.

I don't remember the circumstances, but it was definitely mostly all highway. Might have been from OKC to Dallas, which is a fairly flat drive, but would have been on average of 80mph. I really do miss the gas mileage of that car, amazing at times.

Mine was 397 on the highway, but I had to fill up as it was 80 miles to the next station and I didn't know if I could make it. I took in 14.524 gallons on that fill. Yes, I log everything.

3rd tank from full to empty:

509.8 KM... with a range of 54 remaining = ~563 KMs
11.4 L/100 km
42 km/h average speed
duration @ 12hr7min

Not sure how the duration makes sense. range, gas mileage, average speed are same/slightly improved... but in more than double the time. I guess just more highway driving at higher speeds.

glad to see you're still keeping track of this

question...how have you only gone through 3 tanks since June? I fill up almost every 10 days or so.

Lol - i've probably filled up all the way about 6x (when I'm in Waterloo I always fill up whether I'm empty or not since it's like $0.05 cheaper than in Toronto)... So I only really track when it's full, to gas light...

So I've kept track of the numbers just 3 times. That's why.

wow that's not much at all... I was hoping that one day I'd make a long road trip and breach ~450 miles/750 kms (also SH-AWD 6MT).

I did a total of 1000 miles driving from NYC to Maine and back. This also included driving up and down Route 1 to visit the towns and eat Lobster. Altogether I averaged 411 miles per tank.

On Guelph Line "The Turtle" gas station (near Turtle Creek golf course) was my go to for fill ups when I was dating a girl in Guelph.

i can only get 550 when the light goes on. i'm always in heavy traffic though. that's with 94 too. but i also have awd.

i remember getting 650 once, but that was with US premium+ gas, not the crap we get up here, and 0 traffic.

Am I missing something? Does our car show the range or are you guys just doing trips? My 06 accord would give range and reset it on fuel up and keep a history log.

yeah, you're definitely missing something. under the trip computer there's additional stats:

Range, gas mileage, instantaneous gas mileage (bar chart thing) , average speed and duration.

When I first got the car I was a bit disappointed Range wasn't there... but then found it. The tricky part is getting to them. I haven't quite mastered what combination of Up/Down and middle button I press to get to them. Not exactyl intuitive.

once u hit trip, hit the middle button to enter it
down once - trip a
down twice - trip b
down 3 times - instant mpg
down 4 - range
(i think those are in the correct order, i just do it by muscle memory...)

if you get any warning lights (low gas, low washer fluid for us Cannucks, etc) they'll appear the moment u hit up or down and u'll have to hit up or down one more time to clear it.

Well I noticed my words were off, I know there is a "range" IE miles to empty, but what I meant to say, whoops, was a "miles driven from fuel up to fuel up"

Like I said, my accord had a setting that restarted every time you fueled up and said the average MPG and how many miles you went

Yeah Trip A is supposed to reset automatically each time you refuel. I find you need a certain amount before it triggers the reset. I tried $10 fill up once and it did not reset.

The reset with refuel is not the default but can be configured to do that.

my mistake, once you hit the middle button, you already hit trip A. then it's up/down to scroll, but once hit range, if you keep going down, you'll end up out of trip function.

Range? You shouldn't be trying to get maximum range out of your vehicle. In fact running on empty is a big NO-NO in today's vehicles.

Although our TL has been pushed to the limit:

I would not be able to tell you how many miles we made because I was too pissed off at my old lady for pushing it this far to look at the ODO.
Today's cars use the gas as a cooling fluid for the pump. Running it this low on gas car burn out the pump. I try to fill my vehicles at 3/4 tank and NEVER let it go below 1/4 tank when I'm behind the wheel.

I don't disagree. I'm not trying to push it to the limit. Just good to know what I can expect. If you look at how I post my stats above, I always write X kms travelled + Y remaining = ~range

Although once I did have it at 0 km Range :S that was not smart and obviously wasn't intentional. was running late and kept pushing it back.
