LED light upgrade...

Hi,

I did a search using what I put in the title of this thread, but didn't see anything to help me. I'm looking to upgrade a few lights to LED's, license plate and vanity mirror mainly. Is there any thread in this forum that has a list of light part numbers and their LED counterparts? Perhaps even a trusted vendor where I can make this purchase.

I'm also interested in doing a TSX lens upgrade...if someone know anything about that, as well. I contacted "JnC", but never heard back from him.

Thank you!!!!

Front Side Marker: 168
Fog Light: H11
Rear Turn Signal: 7440
Back-up Light: 921
Rear Side Marker: 168
License Plate: 168
Trunk: 31mm x 10mm Festoon
Door Courtesy: 168
Vanity Mirror: 31mm x 5mm Festoon

Center Console Compartment: 74

i got the trunk led off of ebay, working great.

the rest id say get em from ijdmtoy or someplace reputable, the 168s burn out fast if generic.

Your vanity mirrors will become completely unusable if you put LEDs in them. IMO, they're too bright to begin with.

Thanks, I guess I'll pass on the mirrors. To start I'll go with the license plate for now. Are those part numbers you gave for LED's or the OEM bulbs?

should be both, just type in LED after whatever part number, and you'll get the LED.

stick with IJDMToy brand. if you were thinking about going cheap on em, through hong kong ebay, avoid it. i went that route, bulbs messed up within a week, if that. of the 20 i ordered, 2 are still going. IJDMToys are working perfectly.

I also really like VLEDS & JLClighting. I think JLC are brighter.

anybody replace their under-door courtesy lights with LEDs?

I did with iJDM's for both the under door and license plate bulbs....and you can barely tell they're on under the doors. I was hoping for a bright light like I did with my rear license plate lights.

Any positive/negative experiences? I'm wondering if it's the bulbs or what. I did use a metal screwdriver to pop out the old bulbs... which may not have been smart (realized that after).

Or maybe remove the lens covers which don't seem to permeate a lot of light?
Any ideas?

^^ are they directional LEDs? or wide angle? you may need to find ones that only point down as opposed to all over the place.

the difference may be this:

and this:

i'm not sure what the covers look like down there, but that may be part of the problem too

you're right, i do have the multidirectional ones... but under door and license plate. I did not want to have to deal with potential issues with it not necessarily pointing down.
The way the stock bulb sits doesn't point down, it sits sideways. So I'd have to find a bulb that points sideways (which does exist)...however considering potential polarity issues I'd have to hope that it points the right way for it to work.

seemed to work beautifully with the license plate light which sits horizontally as well... and like i said, it's VERY dim... like it's not fully on. No idea why.
I will experiment more this weekend when I have time (swap stock bulbs, with these LEDs and license plate ones)...

hmm, i'm curious why they wouldn't fully light up. Perhaps it's a faulty set of bulbs? Not sure if you mentioned trying the license plate ones in there to double check. Keep us posted!

has anyone successfully changed the 2 small blue LEDs by the homelink buttons? i suppose they are 2 individual LED bulbs but could just be one shining through 2 small holes?

or should the better question be whether they can be changed? would be nice to change them to white LEDs. i tried poking that area around but am too afraid i would break the plastic.

yeah, that's what I'll attempt this weekend to see if it's the bulbs or what the hell. Haven't tried mixing/matching the various bulbs to see which ones may/may not work.
