Just purchased a 2011 TL Tech. Need guidance

I just bought a used 2011 TL Tech package. The current odometer reading is at a little over 45,000 miles.

I need some guidance from the community members on what kind of maintenance is required on the TL at 45000 miles. Also there is a slight wobble at the steering wheel that i feel while breaking at high speeds, and there is a rattling sound from the passenger side door area at low speeds when the road surface is a bit rough.

I am planning to take the car out to an Acura service center here in Atlanta, GA. Please advise which is the best one.

This is my first post on the community and also my first car in the US, so any help will be much appreciated.

Welcome to the boards!

The best advice for maintenance in this car is to follow the maintenance minder. Check out this site for more information on it:

http://owners.acura.com/service-maintenance/minder?year=2011&model=TL#mid^UA8F5BKW

I'd check the maintenance history of your car too to determine if any of the necessary work was already done.

As far as wobble, most people will chime in and say that your rotors are warped but it's probably not that. A lot of the time the pads will create deposits on the rotors that cause vibration during high speed braking. Have the mechanic take a look at it. You may just need them resurfaced.

Do you still have a warranty?

I believe there is a rattle TSB for the 4G but I can't seem to find it.

Personally, if I don't know what maintenance was done on the car, I do all the usual (engine oil, trans oil, diff oil) and check (belts, cv joints, air filter, radiator fluid...)
As far as your wobble, check rotors & pads.
are you in a sh-awd or the fwd?

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase. As far as maintenance what others have said about reminder and rotors.

I would replace all the fluids in that car since you do not know how it was maintained previously.... engine oil, tranny fluid, brake fluid, transfer case and differential.

The pulsating is probably due to the rotor as others have mentioned.

Thanks for the reply... its a front wheel drive, still under warranty...

I called a dealership today and they quoted $545+tax for the 45K mile service. The will replace the Engine Oil, Transmission fluid and a bunch of other checks.

Not sure if it is really worth the money, is it wise to get the service done someplace else, like Firestone maybe where i could just get the engine oil and transmission fluids changed and get the breaks inspected?

^ This is why some of us call them stealership instead.
I would recommend DIY as engine oil and tranny is rather simple on our TL's. However, if you are not the DIY type, strongly suggest to find a good independent shop that you can trust to build a relationship with. I would suggest to post on the regional section on this forum and see where other AZ'ers are going for their service in your area.

Thanks C8N.. Left a post in the regional section..

There is still about 20% life left on the oil, but since i dont know what kind of maintenance the car has received from the past owner, i want to make sure i get the basic stuff done ASAP.

I would love to do it myself, but right now i do not have the required tools or a covered garage where i live to get my hands dirty. Hopefully by the time my next maintenance is due I should be better equipped.

Also, if you are going the independent shop route, do discuss with them what the labor charge only would be.... as if you are like many of us here in AZ, we like to feed our TLs quality stuff only. Not to mention, some after market tranny fluid can have ill effects on your car. Would recommend to use OEM tranny fluid from Acura.
