New to 4G

Hi All, made the transition to the 4G TL from the 3G. Going to miss my 3G, but the 4G SH-AWD w/Tech does everything the 3G did and more. However, it's not fair to compare the two since one is FWD and the other is AWD, and big difference in HP. Regardless, I'm happy I made the switch. Looks like there's a lot of reading up I need to do on the 4G.

Welcome to the 4G family and while many 3G have been bashing the 4G, I think people are finally coming around to how great this car actually is. We may look back in history and realize that this was the last REAL Acura before things started really going south for the brand.

Welcome. I'm a former 3G owner as well and now a 4G enthusiast. I still think the 3G is one of the best looking used cars on the road. You're right that it's not fair to compare the two models. The power in the new generation is incredible.

Enjoy the ride.

Congrats on getting a 4G TL.

It's a much superior sedan, especially with SH-AWD.

Enjoy.

Thanks. Yup, I use to be one of those that wouldn't give the 4G a second thought because of it's styling. However, once I started researching the 4G, the more I realized I wanted it. It was really between a WRX and the SH-AWD because I wanted AWD with a good amount of power. After my test drive of the 4G, it was a done deal. I personally think the styling of the 4G was before it's time, and why it wasn't accepted well during its initial product launch. I have neighbors that own BMWs and Infinities walking up to my garage asking about the 4G and being very impressed.

Thanks. Yes the 3G has a body style that is going to last for years to come, but that goes for a lot of Honda/Acura models. The 4G just filled the void where the 3G couldn't deliver because I had hit a wall in terms of what I was willing to do to the car regarding mods. Decided it was best to start with a new platform.

Thanks. I will certainly enjoy, but need to start researching what is the best first mod. I need to decide if I want to go performance or looks on the first big mod.

Yes it is. I give the Acura engineers a lot of credit for really improving the TL from the 3G to the 4G. For example, one limitation I didn't like with the Base 3G TL was its ability to make sharp turns, such as, a u-turn. That's no longer a problem with the 4G, but based on what I've read, it may only be an improvement enjoyed by SH-AWD owners. I'm curious, do Any 4G FWD owners find it hard to make u-turns?

I tend to think the 4G design was ahead of its time as well. I've said this a few times before but I really hated the design when the 4G first came out but it grows on you more and more with each passing day. Even when I bought my car, I was a bit hesitant because of the design. When I look at it now, I see nothing but beauty.

Congrats on the 4g! I had two 3g's before getting my 2010/Tech and while they were great cars in their own right the 4g will make you forget about them - it's that much better!

No...coming from a TSX with a super tight U turn, I was concerned but I've had no issue at all. I thought I would have to K turn it on a narrower street but she made it with no prob.

I agree if every word.

Thanks. Yes, the 4G adds so much to what the 3G offers, but I like that I had the 3G before the 4G. I've been reading a few threads in the 4G forum, and there are some common topics between the two.

Thanks for getting back on this topic. I was always interested to see if other Acura owners had the same issue with turning radius, as I did with the 3G TL.

Yea, I was sold after the first on-ramp to the freeway. Although, it felt like it didn't have a lot of power off-the-line when compared to my 3G. However, I think I can attribute that to the exhaust on the 3G, which can make it feel faster because of the beautiful sound at WOT. That all went away once I learned about sport mode and the paddle shifters!

Yea, this is the first car I've owned where I want to take it to a track. Have fun and not worry about cops around the next corner.

Thanks! Good luck, took me a few months to find the right combination for the right price.
