Ignition Timing

I'm monitoring some parameters using an OBDII Bluetooth real time module and noticed the ignition timing advances as much as 45 degrees. It does so mostly at lower RPMs when I'm cruising. When I'm accelerating, the timing is advanced about 10 degrees, and the same at idle. When I let off the accelerator and brake, it retards about 10 degrees. Is this normal? I also noticed the intake manifold pressure stays between 3 psi to 8 psi regardless if I'm idling, cursing, or accelerating quickly.

Maybe Acura has been consulting with the folks at Volkswagen...

Acura programmed ECU's to pick the highest gear and advance timing as necessary for cruising so you get great MPG. When you let off the gas, fuel flow is cut along with the throttle body closing so timing retarding is normal as well. This helps reduce engine braking and improve MPG. During driving where the engine is heat-soaked, this timing advance barely happens making the car feel down on power.

The MAF sensor measures mass air flow, not pressure so you are seeing flow numbers.

Timing: The timing numbers seem reasonable.

Pressure:
Perhaps you're referring to the MAP sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure). Those numbers seem erroneous.
If the sensor was bad the engine would run poorly and or you would get a engine light (DTC code)
