Ignition button question

This is my first car with a keyless system so I'm new to the technology and frankly having a hard time adapting. I'm always reaching for my key as I approach the car. LOL.

My question is when I pull into the garage I simply want to turn off the engine, but keep on the accessories, is there a way to do this without disrupting the navigation system? Because it has to restart when I shut off the engine and re-engage which stinks?

No. If you just want the accessories on, you have to push the start button to turn off the engine first and then push the start button again without stepping on the brake pedal. (This is the one big flaw with this sort of system).

I do like the fact that when you go to start the car. Press the red button - and let go - you dont have to hold it until the car starts - saw that in the owners manual

But you can do what you want!

Actually, if you leave the car in gear and press the "Start" button, the engine turns off and the navi/radio/etc stay on. You can then put the car in park and everything stays on.

Great, I'll have to try it. But does it go to ACC or to IGN? I would guess IGN. I did read about that safety feature in the manual for emergencies. You wouldn't want to leave it there for long though, since it will drain the battery fast.

Hmm, that I don't know. I don't remember the warning lights flashing back on on the dash. To be honest, I found this out by accident, as I am still getting used to the "button"; we're such creatures of habit!

Me too really. It's actually an automatic reflex as I approach my car to go for the remote or key. Regarding leaving the ACC engaged, I've never ran down a battery before in a honda, even as I wash or work on my cars and listen to XM or radio. It would have to be on for very long time, +2 hrs I'd say, and my intention was just to keep XM on long enough so I can upload groceries, so it wouldn't be bad.

this is a keeper - just today I was waiting for my daughter to get out of school - parked car - turned off engine and then had to press the ignition button again and wait for the system to reboot for the radio - tomorrow - leave in gear - press to stop engine - radio keeps playing
