That picture is old..... That painted grill was posted here quite a while ago and discussed extensively. Next time, do your homework before posting, please.

 

I like how they want more then MSRP....good luck with that.

Saw that kind of grill at the dealership today, most of them were painted the color of the body, i think it wont last very long and wont handle the highways with rock chips very well..

 

Jeez man, cut him some slack...

 

Many 4th Gens are getting that treatment by the dealers.

 

Does the same go for the rest of the front end or do you thnk the dealer are going "cheap" on paint?

I mean, body shops repair/repaint various panels all the time and they are expected to hold up similarly to the original OE paint. Why not these grills?

 

Sticker pic looks like $39,445; asking price is $38,900. ??

I wasn't looking there...I was looking at the text in the ad. So not that bad of a deal.....I like how he uses "no reserve" but clearly if the min bid is 38,900 then that is a reserve

In my opinion, this doesn't look good on the Black Pearl. It just ruins the lines, which is why I had mine painted. And yes, the dealer is using cheap paint shops! Mine is very lack luster and doesn't stand up next to the factory paint.

 

I saw the painted grill on a 4G TL this AM at the dealership. I'm one of those who do not like the car itself as well as Acura's new grills, but I have to say, the painted grill is a nice improvement.

It's just that when the paint flakes off the grill you will see chrome or polished metal color what ever you call that color on the grill.

There was another thread about the painted grills though...

Since a majority of his posts are very useful...and he is one of very few 4G owners.

 

He was on temporary week ban for speaking his mind, over something that I happen to agree with, but this post is just more opinionated stuff and been covered, so let's get back learning more about our new TL's!

Pete - that wasn't a nice thing to say to someone. We all know you have an 09 TL but that doesn't make you any better than anyone else, just in case you're feeling superior.. If you don't have something nice then don't say anything at all.

 

Mod step up here to chill everyone out please? I don't think it was bad at all, he did say please after all? And he's right, there's a lot of double posting going on, and it's hard for the admin to keep track of such posts. Yes it could of been nicer, but it's not out of line IMO.

On another note....the all black grille looks the best IMO

Looking at that one pic, whats with all the plastic junk Acura is now sticking around the engine?

 

All black or stock.

 

Guess they're following Porsche's lead with the Boxster -- except you can still see some of the engine on the TL -- unlike the Boxster where it is completely shrouded by plastic!

 

I went to CostCo today. There was some car parked there by the door(for something dealers do, dont know what is it called) I thought its just another GM, because it was surrounded by people(I just saw little part of driver door). I joined the crowd. It was 09 TL. People were just gazing at it. no funny comments, no , eww etc. just looking at it. It sure gets alot of attention. Here's pic..

 

It sure does, unfortunately those rims don't help the appearance at all. They're down right hideous actually and I'm embarrassed to be rolling around on them to be honest with you all. They should be on a Honda Accord, not a $40K Acura... In fact it's uglier than the grill everyone despises. 50 profile tires on a sedan sports car? that's another boo boo. Despite having ugly shoes, I love the car, I never want to get out of it!
