How much do you pay for insurance?
I'm curious about how much other people are paying for insurance, as I'm 19 and paying out my ass to insure a fully loaded TL.
Car: 2010 TL SH-AWD A-Spec
Cost: $53,000
Insurance: $5,700/Annually

Age: 26
Car: 2010 TL Tech with 18 Wheel
Cost: $35,000.00
Insurance: $1900/Annually
I thought my insurance is high because I had some speeding tickets for 100+ miles/hour.

$301 for 2 vehicles & home insurance
2001 Acura CL-S - Full Coverage
2008 Mazda CX-7 - Full Coverage
Basic home insurance
you just need to wait till you hit 25. best thing to do now is let your parents be the owner of the vehicle and you go under a different address on your driver licence than your parents and tell them to add you as an ocassional driver. therefore, your parents will pay much cheaper and it'll not cost them anything to add you in as an ocassional or secondary driver. transferring the car to your parents will not cost anything except for registration and transferring fee which is less than $50. you do not have to pay taxes if you're giving to your parents or grandparents or vice versa.

Age, being a young male, the area you live in, price and how the car is equipped are some major factors. I think I would have gone with a cheaper car.

I was actually genuinely curious to see how much I was being shafted for insurance. I'm looking at around a 15% decrease every year until I turn 25 apparently.

Kooty, us old folks (me=43, wife=32) down here in Orygun pay $912 a year for the TL. It's an age thing. Our insurance even has a "No male or unmarried female drivers under age 25" claus.
Watch out for that IT work. That and beer are how I got to be so damn fat!

2010 TL AWD 6MT: New King
Car: 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD Tech w/19" HPT
Cost: Too much, I got the TL when it was first released
Insurance: ~$800 year for the TL
I'm 33yrs old, male, married, and 1 kid.
There are many variables in determining insurance rates: age, sex, marital status, driving record, any prior claims, state of residence, if property insurance is on the same plan, car make/model, mileage driven per year, safety features on the vehicle, etc...
Call around, you'll find the rates can range quite a bit

Figured that was the case. Cost isn't really an issue - as I factored in a high insurance price when choosing my car. If I wasn't paying so much for insurance I probably would have gone with a different car. Had my eye on an M3 or S5... but I have to admit I frigging love my TL. When I do eventually move on I'm planning on getting an MDX for the wife.

Ahahaha. I hardly work hard. I work from home... get to work in my PJs if I want to
But that doesn't help with my soon-to-be beer belly. I have to keep hitting the gym!
Never finished high-school - I've been working for the past 4 years full-time, and did consultant work/ethical hacking part time since I was about 12. IT Security is amazing pay... but you have to keep up with the new information. And like most industries it's about who you know/who knows you, and how long you've been in the industry as well.

We pay 924 annually for the TL through State Farm with a 100 dollar deductible. We have 5 cars on there all at full coverage so we get a multi car discount lol.

The cost alone if not much to judge depending on your coverage. If you are young with no assets you can cover minimal coverage, if you have home and want an umbrella policy you need to carry higher car insurance, also deductibles make a big difference as well.

Chicago, IL...
as mentioned before.. there are other things that go into that rate... It's tied into my homeowners insurance, so I get a discount there. I have more than one car, so I get a discount there, good driver and alarm system. Those are all of my discounts.

yes, there are many factors that they do take into account when purchasing insurance:
how far is your commute: best to say less than 10km each day
how many kilometer you travel with your car each year: less time you spend on the road, the lesser chance of you getting into an accident: best to say 10K each year.
Where do you park your car: best to say you park inside a privately owned garage
Depending on your zip code: some location have more accident reported than others
Age: if you're 25 or older, it's cheaper
Driving record: avoid DUI and tickets with demerit points
Status: married or single
Multiline discount: try to put all your insurance under one company to get more discounts
i heard out in the West, everyone get paid high because of the oil sand boom 2 or 3 years ago. even working at a Tim Horton, cashiers get paid $14 to $15 an hour but then again, a coffee would cost you $2. properties are expensive. it explains that he's living at home and doesn't have to pay a dime for mortgage and utility bills. all of his income is disposable income. i can't even afford a car like that brand new and both of my wife and i income are over 100K. it's nice to own a brand new car but it's not wise to make the purchase as they depreciate too fast. buy one that's a year or 2 old that is still under warranty.
also, if you show up to work with a car like that, it'll be harder for you to get a promotion or raise as they think you don't need the money.

Married couple, 31 and 29. Live in NJ, which has the highest rates in the country. Also commute 60 miles round trip every day.
TL is $390 every 6 months with a multi-car policy. Other 2 cars are a 2010 Toyota Tundra crewmax 4WD, and a 2011 Mustang 5.0 convertible. Total 6 month premium is $1,300, bleh! That is for $250,000/$500,000/$100,000 with $500 deductibles.
Just got a whopper of a ticket in PA this weekend, so who knows what I will be paying now

Is car insurance really high in Calgary?
Anyway, I am paying just over $900 per year for my 2010 TL SH-AWD with Tech.

Paying $1900 a year for mine, $161 a month. 26 years old 1 accident and 1 speeding ticket on my record. I think I could do better if I shop around...

Can't believe my insurance went up!
Ugh, sold an 08' Covette and was paying just $875/year.
Premium on the 2011 TL SH-AWD is $1120 per year with $100/$500 deductible. No accidents/claims or blemishes on the driving record.
WTF?

Figured that was the case. Cost isn't really an issue - as I factored in a high insurance price when choosing my car. If I wasn't paying so much for insurance I probably would have gone with a different car. Had my eye on an M3 or S5... but I have to admit I frigging love my TL. Anyways, I spend $55 a month to insure our TL. Another 45 for both my civic Si and mx6. The secret is to get the risky cars on the awife's flawless driving record. :-)

I'm 58, never had a ticket or an accident (yep, you read that correctly). Yearly rate on my new 11 TL Tech is about $1100 per year. That is about $100 a year less that what I was paying for my 06 Toyota Solara SLE convertible. I do have another car on the policy. A 1956 Continental Mark II.
