Help connecting dash cam to fuse box
I'm trying to hookup my dash cam to my driver's side fuse box, although I could use the passenger side, if that's better.
Here's what I'm looking at:
I noticed 14 is open, should I install it there? or use a slot with an existing fuse, like 15 or 16. I'd like it to NOT have power when the car is off, what's the best way to test for that?
Here is my adapter:
It didn't come with a fuse, and I see it has slots for 2 fuses. Does it need 2 fuses or just one? If its one, which slot does it go in? If 2 (the 1 I remove plus a new one), how many amp should the second one be?
And finally where do I ground this? I didn't see a common ground bolt anywhere when I had the panel off.
Thanks in advance!!!

It looks like you bought the wrong tap, the one you have will still work but it's going to stick out and you may not be able to close the fuse box cover. The 4G TL uses mini fuse low profile, see link below.
I personally used my accessory fuse and my cigarette lighter fuse for my dashcams, I can't remember exactly where I grounded it, but I'm pretty sure I just piggybacked on the one the factory uses, there should be several things grounded to it.
It basically works like this, you'll unplug one of the factory fuses and put that fuse in your tap (the slot close to where it plugs into the car), the second fuse will be for the dashcam, it will be the one that bridges the red wire. I personally used a 3A fuse since dashcams shouldn't take more than 1.5a. If you find that the dashcam is powered even when the car is off, you need to turn plug the tap in the other way.

Just a follow up question. How do we attach that "add a fuse" to the power cord? Do we chop it off at the cigarette lighter/USB end and skin it back? Will there be 2 wires in there, 1 hot, 1 ground?
