Gas Mileage Changes

I have a 2010 TL tech that has gotten good mileage since purchase , usually high 20's up to 30 mpg. Over the past few months this has dropped considerably averaging at 23 MPG. Normally I wouldn't think too much about the change but I have another car, a Subaru outback (great car) that normally gets 25-31 MPG and at the same time the TL's gas mileage decreased, the same thing happened to the Subaru.

I haven't changed the way I drive, brands of gasoline or any other factors that would decrease my mileage. Could the gas companies be formulating the gasoline differently or am I just frigging crazy? Some is definitely different.

Has anyone else on the forum noticed the same?

Same here. I was averaging 24.7 from last March until the cold weather/winter fuel blends hit.

Now, week to week, I'm lucky to hit 23.5. I keep the tires right at the suggested PSI.

This is an AWD, 6MT.

I've been averaging right on 22.5 mpg for mixed city/highway driving. A little better than what the EPA ratings are. I've only had the car since November, so I'm looking forward to the summer blend of gasoline.

Sorry to be so skeptical with anything that makes us pay more for driving while the oil companies are grabbing more money. I think this is a big scam to make more money by selling more gasoline because of decreased gas mileage and call it a "change in formula".
Yea right.............

I can recall winter formulation changes in the past but never causing this much of a decrease in my gas mileage. When enough people start noticing this and complaining the oil companies will "reformulate".

This is my 5th TL and this is why I noticed the change in the first place. I kinda, sorta knew what to expect. What is your Acura history?

With the reformulation, both of my cars are getting under advertised mileage.

Princess, I suppose it's the gasoline.

I've noticed the drop in MPG this winter as well. Although overall my average MPG is 23.18, that's over 460 days & 21621 miles. The best MPG I've recorded was 28.69 & the worst 19.61. Over the past 3 months I've only been averaging 20.82, most likely due to the winter blend of fuel. The milage definitely peaks in the good weather.

This is for a 2010 TL SH-AWD 6MT.

The culprit is definetely the Winter blend gasoline. It's just a fact of life. Can't fight City Hall or Gasoline Companies.
