Front Rotors

I need to get front rotors.
What is the best kind to buy for hot temperatures? I live in Vegas.
I was looking at the drilled slot rotors.
Thanks

If you are looking for something other than OEMs, StopTech does make drilled/slotted rotors for that car. You can find the links below:

If these rotors are going to be for a street car, I do tend to recommend against drilled/slotted rotors. They are the noisiest of the rotor options, and they also tend to be a little harder on pads. If you are looking for a performance upgrade with some aesthetics to match, I would recommend a set of slotted rotors as they will help alleviate some of the concerns previously mentioned, and they will save you a couple bucks.

StopTech has those as well, and they can be seen below:

Feel free to send us a PM if you need anything. Happy modding!

I would be careful about getting a full set of brakes for 150 on eBay, especially drlled/slotted ones.

Markup on rotors is among the highest I had ever seen when I was doing wholesale parts delivery several years ago. The actual cost on a basic rotor is verrry cheap. Like less than $10 cheap. Yet the shop wants to charge you $100+ for basic rotors.

Anyway, it could be a "get what you pay for" situation on eBay or it could be a decent deal. Time will tell.

A little late to the party, however I have had excellent experience with https://ebcbrakes.com/product/bsd-disc/ No noise after some serious high grade trips around yellowstone and other parts of the west coast. They are pricey. Though I liked the grip of Yellowstuff pads however I get annoyed by brake noise even if it minor squeeks. So I changed the pads to Akebono. https://ebcbrakes.com/Assets/ecatalo...2016.html#p=16 Rotor model front 7522 rear 7523 & Akebono front Asp1102 Act1102 and Back ACT1103 https://partcat.com/akebono
Not sure I believe the ASPxxxx is the performance. I believe I have ASP on the front and ACT on the back.

I purchased full front and back drilled and slotted rotors from R1 Concepts. Very impressed with the look and feel. Great rotors and pads from them. Great price - they often advertise 20-30% off.

Can't complain one bit, and even if I have to replace the pads more often, I now know they are very easy to replace. Actually changing rotors and pads is very much a DYI job. No sense paying $800 - $1000 at the dealer...

I've used many brands of rotors. I've never been able to tell them apart. It's the pads that really make the difference.

How about longevity? Are they about the same? I've always tried to stay away from the cheap stuff from Autozone but don't really know how they do in longevity though.

Replaced the front brakes and rotors this week on our 2013. Used Napa Ceramic pads and their premium rotors. I was impressed with both of them out of the box. Install went smooth.

Paid $185 for 2 rotors and pads. I used the “fallsavings” promo code, purchased in their site and picked up in store.

After going through many sets and brands I can conclude that OEM rotors are best for longevity, corrosion resistance, and performance. If you have the funds get them, they are about $100 a piece, match them with a decent set of pads. Drilled/slotted rotors are mostly for looks and you will pay a premium cost for that, recommended if you track your car regularly since they can help with heat dissipation. Avoid cheap sets by all means, they will look like shit after one rain, will warp fairly quick, and extra heat will compromise other braking components like pistons, rubbers, and guide pins. If in a budget go with a reputable brand like centric, napa, duralast, etc. Currently using Centric Premium front and rear set with their Posi quiet pads from Rockauto for a few weeks now, so far impressed with the quality and feel.

The latest OEM rotors appear to be painted silver in the 'rotor' hat area.

This thread is old, but since it was bumped already, I'll add my thoughts.

I also run the Brake Motive rotors and pads from eBay. They are excellent and I'm extremely happy with them.

I've probably put 10 sets on various cars and they are excellent. I've only had a warranty issue with one set where they warped pre maturely and their customer was exceptional. They sent me another set right away. They are one of the best companies I've deal with. They are the first place I look when I need brakes now.

That said, they are basically just rebranded Power Stops. I believe, although don't know that they buy the blanks from Power Stop and then machine them themselves. The reason I know they are rebranded Power Stops is they sent me a set and left them in the Power Stop box. I also got a set of pads that said Power Stop on them for one of my sets.

EBC hands down. Their pads speak volumes to the quality of their product. Put a set of red pads on the front of your car and you'll wish you ordered them earlier. I love the yellow on my 4G and red on the 3G TL. Yellow dusts much more and is squeaky when cold but worth the bite. Red is a great factory upgrade with some minor dusting, no noise.

Their rotors seem to be good as well. I've been using Racing Brake for a while but trying out their rotors and seems ok with 20K so far. I've warped every single set of OEM rotors on my honda/acura's so OEM isn't the best.

Buy some DOT 4 Brake Fluid and your brakes will feel amazing.
