Freaking Car Wash

It is Love Bug season here in south Florida and I stopped at my local car wash. I paid then extra to get the bugs off. Stupid me, I was in a hurry and left on an over night trip. The next morning I look at the front number and there is a 2x2 inch chip out of the black paint and you can clearly see the gray primer! Damn. It's too late to take it back and complain, so now I will have to pay to get it fixed!

^^^ I am sorry to hear about your incident but it appears you have learned one of life's most important lesson when it comes to cars....never trust anyone to wash your baby unless you are prepared to have someone damage it.

Like I said....I am not trying to make light of the situation, I would be furious if that happened to me. Hopefully it can be repaired relatively inexpensively and to your satisfaction.

I'd go back with the receipt and flight stub. Doesn't hurt to try & complain.

I'd still call-the worst they can do is tell you no.

Sorry to hear...

However, bugs are relatively easy to remove altho does take some time. They are difficult because they have pretty much dried and baked in. All you need to do is get a wet towel and place over them so to re-hydate them. Leave it there for about 15 minutes or so and when the bugs re-hydrate, it will be a simple wipe off with a soft MF towel.

Last thing you want to do is scrub something harsh on your paint. Also, you don't want to leave them unattended too long because the the acid in the bugs will etch into your paint. Should address them as soon as you can.

Sorry to hear that OP, but your first mistake was taking it to the local car wash. You're better off having a dealership wash it and we all know how "safe" that is.

Good luck getting it fixed. Hopefully they will pay or you can find someone (cough cough Nexson) to take care of it at a reasonable price.

I use a bug sponge. Works wonders. Use it when I travel. just spray water and use the sponge. bugs come right off easy and fast. They will not scratch. If you want one google bug sponge. they are cheap.

How do you use it dunk the sponge in soapy water and agitate the tar/bugs? Have you ever tried spraying the bugs with quick detailer and then removing them the sponge?

Sorry to hear. Those car was machines are known for this kind of problems.

Like mentioned above, next time use a sponge with soap and take your time. They will come out just fine.

Yes, I do and you CAN use quick detailer. Just spray the detailer on the bumper and then wipe with sponge, follow up with mirco fiber rag. Trust me you will never be without this sponge on a trip. Everytime I stop at a rest stop I pull out my sponge and go to work. In five minutes my front bumper and windshield are bug free.

Well I always spray the front with bug juice and let it set for 15-20 min. They rinse right off and then I start the wash job.
