First Oil Change

I just completed the first oil change on my 12 Tech SH-AWD with just going on 6k miles. It wasn't too bad with the exception of the filter being on so tight from the factory that I had to go buy a strap type filter wrench to get the thing off. It started crushing, even with that... Overall, it was pretty easy.
With the cross-member below the filter it got quite messy, is there a way to keep all the oil off of it?
5 qts of Royal Purple 5W-20, a Wix filter and a filter wrench and I'm only down $55.
I plan on doing my oil on 6k intervals since I plan on keeping the car for at least 10 years and because that interval makes me feel more safe than sorry...

I do my own oil and filter changes as well. Yeah the cross member will get oil dripping on it.
You could use a long funnel to direct the oil from the drain hole to the bucket - or whatever your using to catch the old oil.

Should I be worried that my 2012 Awd is telling me service due soon with only 2300 miles and four months old. With my 2007 tsx I did my oil change every 3000 miles at the dealer cost me $38 per visit andi plan to do the same with the TL

I will be doing oil change in my TL soon. Will cost me less than 40 bucks...
10 bucks for a K&N HP 1010 Oil Filter from Amazon, 28 bucks for a gallon of Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Oil (5w 20) from Walmart. Hopefully I wont be needing the filter wrench.

That sure does seem very early to service it. Is your MID showing a service code along with the message? I can't imagine what it would be. I would call the dealer next and ask if this is even close to being normal.

The service showing is A and from what I read that's a oil change

That does sound odd... But everything is based on how you drive it. If you drove it very aggressively then that might be exactly when the car needs it...

Just had my 1st oil change yesterday; Acura of Brooklyn/$19.95; including multi-point inspection; thanks to the online coupon from Paragon.
Kudo's to Mark Langston/Service Manager; couldn't be nicer, or more accommodating
Nice to see reputable dealer C.S.
