The first chip always hurts the most.

Car is barely 2 weeks old and I found a stone chip dead center in the windshield. Hopefully it won't grow.

Ah, the perils of commuting in highways.

I'm with ya, I drive 50 miles round trip every day. It's the price we pay for commuting...

sorry about the first battle car incurred. get the chip repaired so it won't spread. at least it wasn't the paint or a ding on a panel. let's hope you won't have to experience that. it'll hurt more than a glass chip.

I feel your pain.. I got my car in April 2011, within a week, I had a nice big star in my windshield. I got it "fixed" and it hasn't spread but I can still see it...

those rocks chips seem to multiply. I have lost count thanks to driving from NC to NJ and back every few weeks.

Ya that sucks. If you can get it repaired do it ASAP. I am always in favor of repairing than replacing. Nothing like the original glass.

How do you repair it? I heard about the superglue way to do it? Or do you take it and have it done professionally like at a auto glass shop?

On the other hand, I got my car's windows tinted over the weekend. 35% tint looks good on CBP!

i got one on delivery, but didnt realize it was a stone chip. it was under the wiper in the middle of the windshield, looked like it was a light sensor. Then it started to grow 6 months later, and it was too late to claim warranty. One day it was super hot outside, and i got into the car, turned on the ac, and the crack shot across to the edge of the windshield. Thankfully the car's still safe (i had it checked out by 2 ppl). They told me to replace it in the spring.

There are self repair kits but I would suggest just taking it a class repair shop.

go to a auto glass place like safelite...30-45 min of your time and they will repair the chip. at least if the repair fails and the glass starts to crack....the amt spent on the repair will go towards a replacement. they'll even come to you. the sooner you get it repaired the better, so it minimizes dirt and contaminants that get into the chip.

My first chip developed in a nasty crack so $300 later new windshield. According to the windshield guy the original glass was nothing fancy.

That's who repaired mine. They came right to the house. I've actually had it done two cars and both cars still have the original glass.

^^i had mine done by them a couple of years ago, then a tree branch recently took out the rest of it. bye bye factory glass. i will say the repair held up though...the rest of the windshield not so much. nevermind the rest of the car.
