Finally Did It..

Well I sold my 2002 TL and purchased a 2012 TL Base with 17K Miles on it. It's funny that Honda calls the color Root Beer yet Acura calls it Mayan Bronze. Love it..

He didn't buy new so that would explain the not opting for tech thing. That's pretty much the same as me, I wanted tech but was offered a deal I couldn't pass up for a base with only 10k miles on it, and no it wasn't a demo.

Congrats on the car, I'm perfectly happy with the options my base came with, it's not like a barebones BMW or Mercedes. Acura does a good job of including a lot of options even on their base models.

I could have gotten the Tech more miles and cost. The dealer through in a spoiler, 84 mo 100K Ext Warranty and some kind of xylon coating or something like that. Couldn't pass up the deal.

I also came from a 2G to a 4G, big improvement. Although I loved my 2G, it does not compare to the 4G. Congrats....

Why would you downgrade to a car without a cassette tape player?

dealer gave you a deal because he knew he couldnt sell it to anyone else.... its all about the tech man.. The ELS, push start, keyless entry and lock pretty much got me sold on it..

im curious though.. if the tech has a button on the rear spoiler to open up the trunk.. what does the base have? can you only open it up by pressing the trunk button on the driver side door and the fob key?

Not everyone has the same priorities as you do. The base sound system is perfectly fine unless you're some kind of audio freak in which case you'd probably end up swapping in different components anyway. The push start besides looking pretty might save you a combined 4 seconds a day. Don't get me wrong, the tech items are nice to have, but at the end of the day its just a couple gadgets.

I think SH-AWD and navigation are the two more important items but again that's only if you require them.

Yes you can only open it with the key fob or trunk button.

i guess if you dont need it.. then you dont..

also since ive never seen a base in person.. do you have perforated seats? like the seats have little holes in them? or is it just plain and one style all around

Base seats look exactly the same as the Tech seats except without perforation, so yeah just smooth textured leather all over. My base 2012 might look different than the base version of your 09-11, I'm not sure if the base seats changed with the update or not but I don't think they did.
