In general I think a dash cam is a good idea but I've heard that the police can seize information in the event of an accident from such things as the computer in your car and presumably a dash cam should they see it. With some of us TLers SH-AWDing around, wouldn't you be concerned that video evidence of you hot rodding around corner would be used against you in any ensuing fender bender?

They don't have the right to just seize your property like that. As far as I'm aware, Highways and streets are public property and you can legally record anything you want. They would only be able to seize your footage if you were to record on a private grounds.

Earlier tonight I ordered the Blackvue DR550, CH2 - which has 2 cameras - (front facing & rear facing). It also has WIFI so you can get the videos on your iPhone or Android device. I also ordered the power box that I will connect to the fuse panel so that the cameras do not have to be connected to my lighter. I'm really looking forward to this accessory.

Let me know what port in the fuse box you hooked it up to. I also ordered a fuse tap and a 12V to 5V regulator...

I went w/ a fuse tap and a cigarette lighter socket. This way I don't have to destroy the wire it came with, incase I need to take it to a different car or something.

I might go w/ the converter later on if I purchase a different wire.

I didn't know that they made those. The regulator has two usb ports. I figure it's useful if I want to add another usb device or a rear camera.
