Cracked windshield today
Cracked windshield today
Car is 7 months old and 5500 miles, was driving today and we are having 25-35mph winds with 60mph gusts in Maryland. Car in front of me kicked up a stone and the wind carried it and put a nice crack in the windshield. That's about the luck I have been having this week
Have to go back to the dealer next week when a part is in to get replaced, wonder if I can get the insurance to cover me having the Acura body shop replace it instead of a 3rd party.
I keep telling myself better the windshield than a chunk of paint off the hood

Depending on what the damage is, see what the dealer says or else if if it's a chip get it repaired asap. I've had a chicp fixed on 2 cars and's it's worked out fine. If I/you can avoid getting the original windsheild replaced it's worth every effort.. Jsust mo!
My insurance deductible on glass is only $100, but we shall see if I can get them to cover replacing it with OEM glass for that price or not.
Not sure if the chip is to big to be repaired, need to check on that option too, that would be the ideal solution. Maybe it just appeared worse to me earlier because it was eye level and aggravated me that it happened.

I have Progressive as my auto insurance carrier. I had a cracked windshield, and I got it replaced, with an OEM piece, not aftermarket. Of course, I carry glass coverage. Regular chips are also free with my insurance, and the repair is unlimited.
Check with your carrier and see what they can do for you.

ive had my fair share of replacing windshields and rear windshield, and ive ran into issues where there are rattles, leaks, gaps, glue sticking out, defroster not working, etc.
a hood can be bolted back on, or repaired, repainted for no less than 100 to 200 bux and its OEM, not aftermarket.
and come on, he was talking about a little stone that cracked his windshield not some big ass boulder that hit it. a stone like that will only scratch the hood.. also like most people, your hood is going to get chipped anyways. id go with the easier route to just repaint then to replace.
plus you can throw in your grill to get it painted at the same time lol =)
Most of his business is with dealerships as they call his company to install glass for them so I would assume his parts adhere to their specifications. Having said that, I offered to provide contact info so the OP can ask about/dig into the details as due diligence.
assuming?
Yea 'assuming' - as in I have not, don't care to, nor will I go any further than to assume. As it is not me with the cracked windshield.
Would you prefer that I take the day off and swing by an Acura dealership to pick up the specs for their windshield then stop by his store to personally run quality check?
All I am doing is offering another TL owner contact info of a company to get a quote and ask the gazillion questions he needs to ask and maybe at the end of the day save some money.
I originally posted to get a 'Thanks' and move on.
Edit: To OP, I withdraw my offer to provide contact info of glass company.
"That's all folks"

Thanks, I appreciate it. I have a person coming out tomorrow to see if it can be repaired without having to replace. Technically it is in my line of sight so I had to say my girl drives the car and it's above her line of sight. State Farm told me that Maryland won't let them do free repairs, not sure if that's true but whatever it's $50. The glass place said if after a week I am not happy with the repair I can replace the glass with factory glass and they will credit the $50 towards my $100 deductible. Something about the repaired spot can be a bit blurry with oncoming lights. Then it's $225 for the price difference between factory acoustic glass and after market, which was cheaper than I figured it would be.
