Compare '06 TSX MT to '10 TL MT for me?

I'm in the market for a new (to me) car now that my daughter is 16 and driving. She's going to get my 2007 TSX 6MT. I've been looking at used Acuras with manual transmissions (since they don't offer them new anymore) and found a 2010 TL SH-AWD with a 6MT. Can anyone with experience with both cars give me a comparison of the clutch action and shifting between the 2 cars? Same? Similar? TL better/worse? The car I'm looking at is too far away to test drive, and if I purchase it, it will be shipped to me.

Thanks,

Pete

I've driven the 6MT TSX and liked it a lot, but that was a few years ago now. I now have a 2010 6MT - also loving it. I don't recall any significant differences though. Honda/Acura transmissions are always top notch. You surely will not be disappointed.
I'd say same/similar between the two... may be better, but it's been too long to recall.

those 6MT's are VERY hard to find though, so if it's in good shape I'd grab it asap. I'm certain you will be happy witht he tranny.
Better yet - test drive it!

It's 500 miles away. Test driving isn't an option.

TSX is smaller and zippier in general... but once you put together the 6MT with AWD and 305HP... you will cream in your pants. Once you try it, I'm sure you'll fall in love.

I guess money on the floor is greener than mine. Oh, and they raised the price on the car after I inquired about it.

Really disappointing. Not a way to do business.

So, anyone have a 6MT TL SH-AWD, copper with umber interior, reasonably low miles that they're selling?

That sucks. When I was looking for my 6MT they knew they had the best one within a 500 mile radius so they wouldn't come down on the price much. Be prepared for this if you're buying from a dealership, they know it's rare.

Yeah, they act like they have a bag of gold. I've learned to not become emotionally attached to cars that I'm potentially buying.

Here's one in NJ, which should be closer to Philly than Detroit, though it probably doesn't meet your color/mileage requirements:

http://www.emgauto.com/web/used/Acur...rsey/16556585/

If you can do without AWD, the manual 07-08 TL-S would also be a nice upgrade like this one:

As these cars get older, it'll become more difficult to find the exact combo you want (esp in 6MT), but with patience it may just turn up.

yup, very hard to find. I spent 10-11 months looking for mine. only requirement was 4G, low mileage, good condition and 6MT. took a long f-ing time but it was worth it. ended up with my preferred colour and even sports package on it. and yeah, the dealer tried to up the price on me AFTER i put down the deposit, when they realized it was quite rare. after threatening with media and lawsuits, and 3-4 weeks later i finally got the car haha. was quite a mess... BUT SHE'S MINE.

Yeah...I want one, but I'm not that obsessed. Like I said, I don't get emotionally invested in cars that I'm after, so walking away is pretty easy for me. If the right car doesn't turn up between now and February, my choice is between a GTI (6MT) and a TLX. I'll still have 2 Acuras in the family to drive if I go the VW route...

That's a good attitude to have when buying cars! I tell myself I shouldn't get emotionally invested in cars, but that never happens.
