Cheap alternative to painting grille
Well on my accord I used vinyl on the tails, so I tried it out here and I love it. I brought a roll of vinyl for $60 bucks, took me a couple of hours and i'm very satisfied. It went really well on the Grigio. Let me know if you like it:

My bodyshop charged me $200 for painting the whole front grill and the back chrome piece + the lower plastic where it covers the fog light to color matched my WDP. Of course, Removal of Installation of these parts would need to be done by myself (otherwise they charged minimum $375). I'm in SoCal...and I feel it's worthed for $200....

Actually live in Queens, right off the grandcentral, from brooklyn flatlands area.
^ I couldn't go this route since I leased the car, and the vinyl would be the easiest way to bring it back to stock when I had to turn it in.

At night and at dusk it's color matched so it looks like the color of the car. The vinyl color is actually dark grey, so it is actually the silver beak and tail piece that give it that color. IF you look at the tails and the side view mirrors you can also see that they are tinted but they are almost identical.

I think the vinyl option is better for resale. Once you're done with the car strip the vinyl off and you have a perfect stock car again! I'm not sure all these more permanent grille enhancements are gonna help resale values at all. They may actually hurt them.

My beer fridge is in
The ron jon is a whole new grill. So when you get rid of the car, you can put the old one back on and sell the ron jon if you like.
The painting is an option from the dealership, at least it was where i got mine, so how would that hurt resale? I could see where it is a dealer option and it won't help resale, but i don't think it will hurt resale.

Oh oh, I doubt it's metallic thought. Used it on my car 4 years ago, took it off to reply and its still find. But your right if you ge the wrong vinyl it can be a big expensive problem.

For a variety of reasons, I really like this option. I have a few questions for you...
Where did you purchase the wrap? Can you provide a few more details re the wrap? Brand, type, etc
How has it performed regarding road dings from bugs, rocks, debris, etc?
What do you expect its fade charisteristics to be from sunlight and/or age?
I don't know a lot about vinyl wrap, but I think the variety of colors and patterns it comes in makes it a pretty cool option for the grill. I'm thinking about doing just the beak in something like a carbon fiber pattern if I can find something that looks good and is durable.
Thanks!

Cool idea. I had the dealer do the painting mod for me when I bought the car, and I really like what the bodyshop did. Only cost me $250 or so. You said your mod took a few hours; to me the time is more important than the $250. Would rather spend that time with my girlfriend. Inside.

I think it came out pretty good and it didn't cost much! The nice thing is you can do what you can afford or what you think looks good for your car.
You can replace the grill with an RJ grill for like $570 bucks but you know some people don't want to spend that kind of money for that grill me included. There are a lot of options out there so everyting becomes very unique?
You have the painted option, the Midnight Chrome option, the RJ option, and I'm sure if you give the Automotive Aftermarket some options there's going to be even more out there in the future for these cars.
