Question Can this be replaced easily??

Don't know how it happened, but I suspect the alignment shop did it because I sure didn't.

Anyways, part #8 has a nice gouge/cut/scratch in it. Is this piece easily replaceable? I am certainly not removing the airbag to remove this piece, but from the picture, it seems to just clip in?

I'm sure you can, looks pretty easily removable from the diagram. Sorry I'm not speaking from experience!!! Good Luck!

instead of buying and replacing it, spending time to take it apart.. why not just carbon fiber vinyl wrap it..

3m di-noc wrap

I like to keep things OEM in the car, maybe back on my accord when I was younger, but I don't want to clash two styles.

Rockstar, I am tempted but i don't like screwing with things near the airbag

that piece i believe is tabbed in under the airbag. its connects to the side silver parts with the controls around the airbag. They dealer messed mine up twice, i made them replace the whole wheel (total pain in the ass). I think there is a plastic stopper on that part that stops the airbag push when you press the horn down there.

pulling the airbag isnt actually that bad, but im nut sure how easily you can get just that part. make the alignment shop take care of it....

I can't prove they did it. It is almost a lost cause trying to get them to do something, plus the quality of the people at the shop isn't the greatest so I don't want to deal with it.

I guess ill just live with it but it really bothers me. I will try to ask my dealer, see what they say.

check with the parts dept. if you want to see how easy it is to do yourself, go to the acura store on the acura site. then download the directions for the accessory wood wheel instructions. you will get a good idea how quick it is. 30 mins total max, going slow and steady.

I was going to attempt to take the steering wheel apart however now this thread brings me worry. The only rattle in my car is on the on steering wheel between parts 2 and 3. If I push against 3 in the opposite direction of 2 the rattle goes away. I also though about just buying some black felt to squeeze in between the 2 pieces. Its one of those things where do I take it to the dealer and fear things get worse from the car somehow or just fix it myself.

Also if you need help in taking it apart the install pdf for the wood wrap steering wheel gives great detail on how to take the steering wheel apart.

I just went into the dealer. I was pleasantly surprised that it will cost just $65 for labor and $16 for the part. We will see if that holds true, but the service manage totally understood what needed to be done. I ordered the part so we will see.

true,, i really dont like touching anything near the airbags, just scary to do it...

well thats my suggestion for the meantime, it doesnt look bad, solves your issue of having to see that scratch.

but if you like oem then i guess it is time to take that shit apart lol

You better not be staring at the scratch while driving. You don't want the airbags to deploy do you? In which case you will probably have to replace the entire airbag assembly.

It is replaced, so happy. I am very anal and couldnt stand it.

Cost $65 for labor and $15 for the part. A good ideal IMO for the dealership removing the wheel to do the install. Took them only like 20 minutes. Took longer to washt eh car.
