Base TL vs TSX V6

What would be the difference between a Base TL and a TSX
with the V6?

Mainly size. I'd go with the TSX personally.

there's a huge size difference between the two. Make sure it fits your purpose and don't just throw 2 cars in from different size categories hoping they'd be comparable.

Personally, IF the TSX V6 tech had keyless acess, i'd be in one. Why? because i don't need the extra space the TL has and would rather have the lighter, more "tossable" tsx. But it didn't, so i got the TL tech. I don't need the TL's space, but the prices were comparable and the TL tech is more of a luxury car than the TSX.

I don't understand hondas obsession with not creating an amazing premium compact acura. The TSX is nice, but it desparately needs more drivetrain/engine options, and more features in higher packages. All this while keeping weight down.

If the TSX v6 came with 6MT, and keyless access, I probably would have got that instead of my TL. But now that I have the TL, I'm not looking back, it's a great car for the price, and exactly what I was looking for right now.

Size wise the TSX does make more sence, as the wife pointed out. But with a loaded TSX adding upwards to $38,000 you get so much more car with the TL.

I've wondered the same thing, what is the difference between the TSX V6 and the base TL. From what I can tell the interior is not quite as nice (the center console), and the seat in the TSX lacks lumbar support. Other then that they might be the same. I'm not sure if Acura put more or or engineering into the TL though.

BJG,

How old are you? Younger guys like the sportiness of the TSX, especially with the V6. If you're a family guy or like the bigger 4 door, the TL is for you. Remember the 4G TL is now in the Luxury Sedan class, so the differences are large.

But don't get an Accord..................

I'd go with the TL! It was designed for the V6 where as the TSX was not. It basically just got a V6 dumped into it after the fact! Personally, I like the I4 in the TSX more than the V6 but hey that is just me. Its your money, use it how you want!

My wife and I were at the dealership ready to buy a TSX V6...that is until at a whim we test drove the base TL. The ride comfort of the TL was so much better - with not much noticeable difference in power (even though the TSX has 21 more horsepower). The dealership also gave us a much better deal on the TL (less than the TSX). We ended up buying the TL - with no regrets. We still love the TSX size and body style though.

It looks like the TL as I have a family ( an 11 year old son) and my wife says no sports cars. So the TL meets the criteria to keep peace in the family, a nice sporty roomy sedan. When the wife test drove the TL she actually remaked that she really liked the way it drove. This is very unusal as she is not really interested in cars.
PS: She drives a Subaru Legacy wagon which she really likes except for the seats.

I'm pretty sure the Base TL and the TSX V6 have the same power.

Drove a 2010 TSX V-6 into work today, impressive vehicle. I test drove one before. Actually that's what I was going to purchase before I picked the TL SH-AWD. Smaller and much more nimbler than the larger TL, which it should be. The base TL is a smoother ride the TSX V6 is definitely a sports oriented car. They both offer a 3.5 liter V-6 engine. The size to weight distribution is vastly different. The TSX replaces the RSX. I could see the TSX V-6 evolving into a serious BMW 1 and 3 series killer...if Acura chooses to cut it loose.

Yes the TSX V6 is exactly the same to the Base TL V6. The only difference between the two is the overall size of the vehicles, ride quality, and seat comfort!

For me, the TSX had just a little bit to harsh of a ride quality and the seats were a little bit too firm! The base TL had a noticeable softer/more comfortable ride with much softer more comfortable seats!

As others have said though, if your looking for a more sport oriented ride/seats bolsters, etc then you'll want the TSX, if you looking for a softer ride and comfort, the TL will fit your bill nicely! If you can get over the styling of course!

I'd argue that if you wanted a more sporty TL, you can just get the SHAWD version. It should outdo the TSX V6 on everything except gas mileage.

Well that is true what you said, but I didn't mention it because this thread was specifically about base TL vs TSX V6 but you are right about that with the TL and AWD!
