Backup mirror not tilting sometimes

I've begun to notice that sometimes when I an in "R" the side mirror tilt function is not engaging. Sometimes I need to flip the mirror switch to the middle than back to the right(or left) side again. Sometimes I need to restart the car to reset something.

Anybody else with this problem? I'm wondering if there is a failing contact somewhere in the circuit. Such a trivial but nonetheless annoying thing.

um, you might need to disconnect battery to recalibrate the electronics in the car. sometimes that works.

try that if not, then there might be a fuse?

Bring it to the dealership. It's the power mirror module acting up.

It will only tilt when it's set in the Middle setting. If it's still not working try asking the dealership.

Are you sure about the middle position? I have a 3G and it is definitely not the middle- you can choose either mirror side to tilt by moving the switch to the side. The middle position disables tilt in my car and I bet the same is with the 4th gen.

I believe that is correct. Middle position disables tilt, right for right mirror tilt, left for left. If none of these works for you, as already posted, a trip to the dealer is probably the fix.

If it's a 4G, the dealerships know about the mirror problems and will fix for free if still under warranty. My '09 had a problem and it was the actuator.

Thanks!
Glad to know it's a known issue, yeah today it's totally out of commission.

Hopefully it's a quick fix? Assume just have to wait for parts to come in?

My 3G would do that sometimes. It would make a clicking sound and not tilt.. like a drive belt was slipping

So if I take it in to the dealer they should know about this issue already?

Slide the mirror adjust switch to the left and when you put the shifter in reverse, the left mirror tilts down.. same for the right side when the switch is in the right side adjust

Oh man, you guys are funny. Did you open the owners manual or play with the switches at all?

Now I know why Acura keeps its tech to a minimum. lol

It's definitely a deep blue in direct sunlight, on cloudy days it appears very dark almost black from certain angles.

Anyway, I think my mirror problem is bad contacts at the switch. Why? Because I've noticed it only when weather is cool/cold, when it warms up in the car it seems to work fine. So this morning when I started up in the garage the mirror was AGAIN not working. I then applied pressure on the entire switch while I slide it to L or R side and it worked like nothing was wrong.

We'll see how long this trick works but sounds like a bad connection that comes and goes depending on thermal material expansion/contraction....
