TL Air Filter Replacement

How often should the air filter element be changed on a 2010 TL? What is the recommended mileage period for this maintenance item? Thanks.

Visual inspection at each oil change. Bang out the larger junk and re-use if not blocked.

K&N 33-2403 and you'll never worry about it again.

Curious, what sort of prices are you guys / gals paying in the USA for the K&N 33-2403? I'm checking out eBay and prices are great (considering the strength of the Canadian dollar), but shipping is a killer!

They run about $48-$52, plus shipping. There are deals out with free shipping. I paid about $48 shipped. Good luck!

You guys should get it from Advance auto parts, use the code ES123 to get $20 off $50. Hopefully a store near you has it so you can even save on shipping charges.

BTW that code works with anything use it to get $10 Off $30 / $20 Off $50 / $30 Off $100

For the guys who bought the K&N air filter, are there any improvements on gas mileage, throttle response or sound from the engine?

I installed K&N filters for my old Maxima and my wifes Lexus RX and they made a big difference. There aren't many reviews about K&N filters for the 4g TLs.

I just bought one off of eBay for $34 (used an eBay bucks certificate balance).

So these things last forever, right?

"million mile warranty" - just follow the cleaning procedures as needed.

I think it's hit or miss with different cars. I could sense a little difference with my old civic but nothing at all with my FX35. Regardless I would switch just so I won't have to replace the filter again. I rather take the time to clean it.

I have the K & N filter in the TL and CAI's on my 97 4Runner and my 03 Maxima. Never have to buy another filter and easy to clean.
The only way you hear anything is with the CIA or if you punch holes in your airbox. But the TL is not the speed machine, so I won't be doing that. I would think it would inprove gas mileage, but don't have any hard facts?

I recently installed one in mine. I feel like I have a little better throttle response. I am worried though after reading some posts about letting to much dirt into the engine.

Here you go.https://acurazine.com/forums/4g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-295/k-n-air-filter-out-729232/ Not that I believe everything i read but I thought it was interesting and I began to do some more research. I still love my k and n. It beats replacing the stock paper ones every 15k. Also here is another interesting air filter comparison test with a k and n tested. Thought you guys might like to read it. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/airfilter/airtest3.htm

I dont have instructions but Ill try to explain the best I can. It is located on the drivers side of the car above the wheel well right behind the battery from the front of the car. Step 1. You have to remove two engine plastic covers. The first one meet at the weather strip area of the drivers side firewall and the left corner panel. You pull up where it meets the other panels and you will feel it unclip. Step two you pull up on the trim cover that covers the battery and runs along the front end. it will feel tight but it will come loose. You need to pull the hood release lever as far up as you can like when you open the hood outside the car to get this panel off you will see as you do it. Next you need a philips head screw driver and remove the four screws holding the top of the airbox down. There are two close to the edge of the driver side corner panel and two at the back of the box. They will not remove completly but will feel like they are unscrewing still. Step 4 lift up the lid you may have to wiggle it up and you will see the white or black from dirt filter. Squeeze it out pulling toward the driver side corner panel and up at the same time. Step 5. You install the k and n filter in reverse order with the deep side going down into the airbox. Sorry I dont have pictures but if you have any other questions just ask. Also you may have to wiggle the airbox top down a liitle to seat it on the filter and to get the four screws to line up with the holes.

Sure thing If you have any questions while doing the installation of the k and n filter just ask and I'll try to answer them.
