B1 service

Hi guys. I have an Acura 2012 TL Tech with 38400 miles. I have the B1 INDICATOR.

Judging from a TSX thread I read here, its just an oil change and tire rotation? I live in Kansas city and I was about to get all 4 tires replaced at Costco (tires are worn out and damaged). Do I really need to get B1 if I'm getting my tires replaced?

Also anyone recommend mechanics in the KC area?

Thanks

Oil and tires sounds about right. But I recommend you have your transmission in-line filter changed (assuming you have an auto). It's not scheduled to be serviced but some people have had the dealer change it under warranty in the 60k-80k mile range because of noise (clogged). I changed mine at 30k and it was full of debris. Search this site for a detailed thread. The Honda part number is 25430-PLR-003 and is only available at the dealer.

Does anyone have a DIY on the transmission filter change? I've never even heard of this.

Only 6-speed (4g 2012+) has this external filter.
Here is some info.
https://acurazine.com/forums/fourth-...tl-awd-911134/
It's on top of the trans slightly inward and rearward of battery.
One bolt holding it down and two spring clamps on the hoses.
You shall need some long, preferably double joint, pliers to reach the clamps.

Ah ok. I guess the 5 speed is different? Or does it not exist.

WARMER (ATF)/5AT ATF WARMER - SPEED SENSOR for 2003 Acura TL
2004-2006: Yes - Housed in trans housing. 25450-RAY-003
WARMER (ATF)/AT OIL LEVEL GAUGE - ATF PIPE (-'06) for 2004 Acura TL
2007-2011: Yes but ... drum roll please ... it's behind the torque convertor and can only be changed when the transmission is removed.
SENSOR ASSY., POSITION/AT ATF PIPE ('07) for 2007 Acura TL
2012-2014: Yes - In line. 25430-PLR-003.

Acura claims that these filters are only to be replaced during major trans service so they are relatively unknown.

Something that is often overlooked is that during any service the Acura techs look under the car for signs of trouble. A quick look at brake lines, ball joints, exhaust pipes etc, using their experience they can instantly see potential issues. Go to a mechanic that will do that, not only drain and refill the oil. Also if you are getting your tires at other than an Acura dealer, make sure they will re-check the balancing in a week or so after for free. Sometimes new tires get out of balance after the first few miles.
