Automatic reset of "Trip A"

Like many, I've got my MID set to zero out at every refill; a nice little feature that I didn't know about when I bought the car. Unfortunately, it seems to reset at other times as well. Just this morning, I noticed it was showing 7.8 km on Trip A, even though I'm down to about a quarter tank.

Has anyone else had this, and is there something that I might be doing to cause this? I haven't popped the filler cover, or otherwise hinted to the car that it was being filled.

I suppose the easier way to troubleshoot it is to see if anyone knows what triggers the car to think it's been refuelled.

Curious on this one myself. I haven't enabled the feature yet because I was wondering/worried how well it works and what triggers it.

I've seen that behavior before. Basically, i was in a parking lot on idle and then i decided to shut of the engine for I had been waiting long time. As soon as the engine restarted, A was reset, just like when i just filled up. Trip B just kept on it's merry way, as it takes a manual reset anyways. This has only happened once but then again, i try not to keep the car in idle for a long time.

Same experience here. One time only, and it was after the car was idling for a while in park. It has baffled me as well but almost forgot about it since it hasn't happened since. Nice feature though as you say.

I've experienced the same thing. I noticed mine was resetting every time I open or close the trunk or hood. I figured the force of me shutting them was resetting it because something was loose.

I've got just over 10K miles on mine and have not had a Trip A reset malfunction yet (knock on wood).

I assume that was in response to my original post. You should read more carefully.

Same thing happened to me once. Started my car and went back inside the house to grab somethings I forgot. I had the key fob in my pocket and took a lot longer then I anticipated. The car idled for about 10 min. When I came back and hit the road, noticed that it reset. I figured that because I had the fob in my pocket it reset itself.

This happens to me at least once per week, a little annoying as I like to track my mileage. I do often leave my car running while opening and closing the trunk several times. Any suggestions on a fix would be appreciated, and I will be mentioning this at my first service appt.
