Can you be more specific on the BMWs. Are they doing that for the 335 Coupe or just the 328? What is dealer invoice on those models?

Do you know if they are doing the same for the 135?

The deals on the new Acuras are getting better all the time. Thanks for the input from your neck of the woods.

Yes. All 2010 1-series and 3-series are on sale. $1500 off for 1-series and $2500 off for 3-series. 3.9% for 60 months or 0.9% for 24 months. Must finance through BMW for discounts. Go to BMW website for details.

Here is link to 3-series pricing including dealer wholesale.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=30
You can find same at that site for 1-series, also.

Our prices are good right now in California but the state sales tax is out of this world. When I see people complaining about 6%, I don't know if I should laugh or cry! That matters at the bottom line as well.

Here we go -

SH-AWD, MT6, 18" wheels = $36,544 plus Tax & Lic.

SH-AWD, MT6, 19" wheels = $37,304 plus Tax & Lic.

That 19" wheel price is crazy! Actually, they both are.

PLUS, you also get the 1.9% financing for 60 months.

For comparison, I can get any 3-series for $250 under dealer invoice less $2500 from BMW and another $500 from BMWCCA with 3.9% financing for 60 months from BMW.

Decisions! Decisions!
Gocal, are you sure those prices included destination. If so those are some insane prices and I would definitly jump on them. Even w/o destination those prices are very good. Did they give you these prices in writing? There's got to be some catch, maybe a $1K doc fee. lol.. those prices are unreal

Agree. I'd like to hear if anyone has actually closed a deal at these prices. If so, hat's off - the dealer took a real hit.

Yea, no kidding, I can't believe they are selling at those prices now. I mean if so, awesome I hope someone scores a killer deal.

But since the dealer invoice is somewhere just under 41k for the 6MT SHAWD, selling it for an almost $3600 hit is a real loss on the dealer side. I thought the dealer cash was only $2000

Looking at a 2010 SH-AWD Tech

I'm in the Minneapolis area and just received the following quote.

2010 SH-AWD Tech/Auto = $38700 + 20 MN fee + $75 Doc fee + TTL.

My wife and I stopped in yesterday and drove one. Like it. Didn't seem as fast as I expected. I'm currently driving a 2005 Maxima and it "feels" quicker than the TL. But, the TL seems much more refined and I love the tech package. Warming up to the exterior. Wife loves it.

Dealer went on an on about end of month wanting to make sales, said that invoice prices went up and not sure how long he could hold this price...bla bla.

Anyway, I've been reading all the advice in the forum and it is great. I've also seen that Midwest is tough to get a deal and incentives ended in Feb. Just wondering what to do next. It seem like a pretty good first offer. I would like to see it in the low $37K range like some are getting in the area, but salesman is coming across like this is the best deal (of course he would). But this is the first number I've seen. I guess I could fire back with $37K even and see what happens.

Thoughts?

Any other MN buyers out there? What kind of deals are you getting?

Thanks,

Mark
(Soon to be TL owner)

There's a new incentive in March for 2250, so that's still in play.

Go back with low 37Ks and see what happens. The worst that happens is he says no.

I tried $37.5K. And that was a definite "no". Came back with "This is about about as low as we can go. If you wanted all weather mats or similar, we could probably work something out, but $37.5K..no way".

I'm starting to see how the game works. They know that I'm still interested and nibbling on the bait, so of course they say no. Why drop the price further if they know I will come up on my own.

Anybody know what kind of incentives/financing are going on in April?

Mark

He gave you no counter? I emailed/called a few dealers within 200 miles of my house (checked on Autotrader to make sure they had the color I wanted).

I found one guy willing to make a pretty aggressive deal. I then shopped that around and got to a price I was happy with. But I did run into a few who wouldn't go below about 39K - I just stopped dealing with them and concentrated on my best 2-3 offers.

Be patient. You'll get there. (Even 38.7 is decent - if you can get low 38s, that's pretty good off the coasts).

Good luck!

The TL tech (17" rims, *sigh*) I purchased had a sticker price just under $41K that includes $810 destination to JAX, FL. I paid $37,500.

I might, maybe understand the need if I were looking at a Toyota/Lexus (given their recent events), or a Kia, Suzuki, Mitsubishi...something of that ilk. But even with those, you're looking at 5 years bumper to bumper and 100K on the power train. Even GM cars come with a 100K powertrain warranty.

But, Honda's stock in trade is the bulletproof reliability of their vehicles...even moreso, Acura.

I don't know that I'd buy any new car that I felt needed an additional extended warranty. IF that were the case, I doubt I'd even consider buying it.

How many people have we heard of that had to replace the Nav system, for example? I can't remember any. Those electronics have been a part of the TL since the 3G came out. Early 3G TLs had some tranny problems, but even those were covered under the standard warranty.

I guess what I'm asking is what is it one would think would be prone to catastrophic failure that would prompt the want/need for an extended warranty?
How much do you think that big electronic screen in the middle of the TL's console would cost to replace if it fails?

Probably a boatload of money. I've had nav screens since, oh about 2004 (had an OEM nav system in an RX8). Even though I no longer have it, I know where it's at. Not a problem with it. I've never heard of anyone who has had to replace a Nav screen, quite frankly. Not saying it's never happened. I know of a whole lot of people that have Nav in their cars. Not ever heard of one of them say that they've gone bad. If the nav goes bad, I'm thinking the entire stereo may be shot. You start messing around with the electronics in any of these cars, as intricate and as complicated as they are, it's going to be a big bill.

If it's peace of mind you're looking for, I'd say drop a $1,000 for the extended warranty (I think that's what they're running at one of the Acura places in one of these threads). Lots can change in the 7 years those warranties take you out to. You could sell your car. Or, when it's more likely that one of those electronics gizmos fail, like 8, 9, 10 years from now, you'll still not have warranty.

One of the reasons I like Honda/Acura products is they just don't fail. If I bought a Jaguar....different story. I'd definitely get an extended warranty on those. Probably would look at one for a BMW or an Audi, too. Those cars aren't known for their longevity, nor their inexpensive repair bills after the warranties are up.

Well, I got my car today!

2010 WDP SH-AWD Tech. I ended up at 38.3K with free all weather mats. I tried to get splash guards, but no deal. I got tired of dickering...I know, I know!

I'm Happy, Wife is Happy, Kids are Happy...hell, even the dog is happy. And we've got a really cool new car! Hope the new car excitement lasts longer than it did with my last new car.

Thanks for the advise.

Two words

Two words: not perfect. Acuras may be better reliability wise, but they are hardly bullet proof. My father's 2nd gen RL developed problems with the transmission right about 50K miles, which I've heard is a common problem.

You think those electromagnetic clutches in the SHAwd are bullet proof? Or the electrically assisted powersteering? I'd be very wary. That's not to say Acuras are like Audis. I've had a 4000 and a 5000 turbo and I would not buy another even with an extended warranty.

The recent Obamacare discussion IMO has obscured the meaning of insurance. It should be understood that by definition it is unlikely you will ever need it. What you buy is peace of mind for the unlikely event. It's a tool for managing risk, not a book of repair coupons.
