Accident

Hi everyone I live in Vancouver bc
last week I had a small accident long story short I hit a suv that had a trailer hitch with my 2012 TL
no damage was done to the suv but my whole front bumper and front grill are damage. what should I do as it is not a very big accident and if I do take the car to icbc then my insurance will go up (I'm 23 first accident and I have 25% discount )

I've looked online and for the bumper it's under 250 and the grill I think was 150. is it easy to repair it my self?
or should I pay the 500$ icbc deductible and let them handle it all

thats what you pay insurance for.

it will cost you MORE out of pocket to fix the car than the deductible.

bumpers do not come painted, so add another ~$250. right, there...you already surpassed the deductible....$250+$250+$150 is $650.......

and then what happens if you find MORE damage????

Since it seems your main concern is your insurance going up.. Do you know or do you know someone that can recommend a body shop you can take it to for an estimate and maybe repair.

Most ins. companies have "1st time accident forgiveness"
if your ins. company has something like this, I would jump at the chance and get the car fixed for the $500 deductible.
out of pocket repairs will surpass that price, quickly

But if price of deductible plus increase in insurance over time > 1 time fix, then it mightsave money in the long run.

You can always DIY

You can always DIY
switch insurance companies before the accident goes on record.
but they'll catch it once it renews.

<---hit multiple curbs and called insurance every time.
keep using "1st time accident forgiveness"
switches companies before renewal
has lower premiums since I started driving.

You are better off going to a body shop to fix it privately without insurance. The premiums will go up for sure.

He's in BC...the land of government insurance. Switching isn't really an option. He's stuck with ICBC (Insurance Corporation of British Columbia).
