4TL-R Retrofit + LED Highbeams

Little project I was working on during this downtime. Really happy how it turned out and the bi-xenon projectors along with the Profile HI-LENS LED High beams/DRLs make the light output vastly superior to stock. I painted the headlights black and removed the reflector, there isn't room for a shroud over the LED pod, but I think it looks good without one otherwise. DRL Fuse was removed to eliminate any errors on the dash.

No more lighting issues and until you swap out the projectors you don't realize how terrible the stocks are. The 4TL-R projectors bolt up to the stock housing inside the light, but some dremelling is required to make sure they sit flush.

Nice, I was actually just about to order the 4TL-Rs too. I had some TSX-R lenses put into my stock housings a while back, but I'm still not happy with the cutoff.

Output is pretty much the same as the 4TL-R stock photos on retrofitsource and other projects. The LED pods pretty much out power the bixenons when on. I would take pics but I only had the headlights done for two days then traded car in.

What paint did you use to paint the housing?? I had a hard time trying to get the 4tlr to fit so I just gave up 😒

Flat or gloss black Kyrlon plastic spray. Can’t remember the exact colour. It was the X2 coverage stuff.

You need to trim quite a bit off the stock projector housing to bolt it up. Just go ham with the dremel, plus weight savings!

Couldn't get it to sit flush. I went an brought a dremel....I wasn't comfortable hacking up the bracket. The 4TLr are 1000x better than the stock projector's. I'll probably give it another shot.

yeah you need to trim down the housing way more without cutting into the screw mounts. It’s pretty soft plastic and a dremel will make quick work.

I did the 4tlr swap as well and trimmed a good amount to get it to sit flush. But one thing I can point out is this. The 4tlr projector does not sit flush with the housing anymore. If you compare the oem projector to the 4tlr. Which is causing the cut off to not really be sharp or giving it a more intense output. I opened the headlight and added a few washers and it definitely helped but I didnt add enough smh. I will be redoing the headlights over and applying more washers.

What I found was this. After adding the washers. I wouldnt have had to trimmed so much off. Now. Live and learn.

When I say sit flush with the housing I mean sitting against the oem shroud. It's not a very clear picture sorry but when I compared my 4tlr swap to a friends stock headlight. I saw that his oem projector was much closer and flush to the shroud.

So that made me think okay. The trimming to get the 4tlr projector to sit flush made it sit further away from the headlight lense thus causing the output and cutoff to be a little less intense then I expected. I wasnt happy with the results so i added the washers and output was more clear but i still have some room to go. Just a suggestion.

No, it will not sit as close as the OEM. I don't believe it's an issue, it's hardly noticeable and only you know that it looks different. Has no affect on performance anyway.

Let's see some output and wall shots. Mine definitely weren't as clean as how I have them now since adding washers

wouldn't it be better to mod the TL-R projector for a sharper cutoff with a lens spacer?

The only way for the 4tlr to fit the OEM bracket is to add washers between the bracket and projector. It's not a true drop in swap as theretrofitsource claim.

Here's the color mod.
