I find 4th gen TLs confounding: as if my favorite luxury sedan were an animal and if it mated with a Honda Accord. It's a feeling of disorientation.

I mean nothing offensive or personal to the owners of 4th gen machines-- I just don't... "get it". Such a big departure from the aesthetics and distinctive style of the 3rd gen-ers.

Am I alone in feeling like this?

 

I'm sure it'll eventually grow on to some people, as it has to me. I think it looks good, but not as good as 2nd or 3rd gen TLs.

I like the 4th gen better actually. Front wheel drive is really starting to piss me off! I'm going to keep my RSX for a while and save for my next ride. I'm debating on finding a 4th gen for a good price and do monthly payments or.... a 540i sport package. Not sure.

 

^ I'd be careful with a 540i man. Awesome car but the reliability is pretty wack. You'll be paying lots of money for maintenance and fixes.

This topic has been beat to death to say the least.

Personally when I first saw the 4G I hated it. I thought the design was the stupidest thing Acura has done (design-wise that is) in a while. Once I saw it in person and sat in it, it started to grow on me, and now I love it. It's design turns more heads than S-Class Mercedes and such because people are wondering "what the hell is that?". It's different, but then again so was the Viper when it's concept came out in the late 1980's. I think everybody will agree that the Pontiac Aztek is probably one of the ugliest cars on the road today, yet people still bought it. There will always be people who care about the driving comfort more than the looks. You don't see the outside of the car when you are driving anyways.

Would I buy it? With the 6-speed and AWD option, maybe. Would I give up my 3G TL for it? Never

 

1st gen Tl owner and all i can say is that Acura redid the tl imo.
Honestly its grown on me just like others but to me it kinda looks like the newer camrys and some mazda sedans. Compare competitors sedans and you'll notice similarities, but compare The tl trough all four generations you'll find huge differences

Just made the switch and could not be happier. I thought the 3G change was fairly drastic compared to the 2nd gen, maybe the difference being the 3G is a much more subtle design. The 4G carries some similarities over like the healights and some minor things from the interior. The looks may take some time to grow on people but the only reason to like the previous generation TL's was not looks alone. Looks are subjective and in all the other departments the 4G delivers what no TL or Acura has done before and that can include the design, love it or hate it.

my favorite body style was the 07-08 TL-S.

 

Hated it at first but it's growing on me...especially some of the moded ones I'm seeing AWD Tech Package 6MT is a pretty bad ass car. I would not consider some of the base ones over my 08 TL-S.

 

^^ The 07/08 TL-S was already the high end premium model of the TL. Going to an base 2010 TL, would be the same downgrade as a Base 08 TL. I went from my 07 TL-TypeS to the 2010 AWD 6MT... it's a beast... I never looked back.

 

The problem with 4G TL is that it does not look good in the pictures. A lot of people do internet research and many seem to not like what they see on paper but the car just looks diffeferent in person. When I first saw it, I didn't hate the design but didn't love it either. It all changed when I parked my 3G beside a 4G and actually found the 4G to look better, way more sexy and stylish. The 3G looked very bland.
I have had the 4G for 4 months now and I have had numerous compliments on the car. People have even honked me just to say how gorgeous the new tl is. They like it that's why they are giving the complments, if they don't like it, they won't say anything, right.
All the negativity is on this board, I just understand why.

 

Same story, I hated the new TL till I saw it in person, sat in it & test drove it. I really wanted to buy a 2010 Maxima since I've already owned two, but no comparison. This is the first Honda product I have ever owned. So far so good.
