4G TL MMC Wish List
Obviously there has been alot of discussion amongst the AZ community about how the 4G TL has come up short as far as expectations are concerned.
So I thought let's make a wish list for the MMC. Is this a pointless thread because Honda/Acura will do what they want regardless of what the enthusiasts say? Quite possibly.
I like to though.
I'll start off with some of the most ones.
1.Front grill
2.M/T option
3.A/C-cooled seats

The front grille...will probably stay despite our response.
Acura has already said that the MT is coming, just not this year.
For AC cooled seats....my guess is that Acura is thinking that you'll pony up for an RL if you want cooled seats.

Don't forget that in 1999 the TL debuted with a 4AT, to be followed with the problematic 5ATs a year later. I'm sure there will be mechanical upgrades during the model run, as well as the typical cosmetic changes to the bumpers, lights and rims at MMC.
I foresee A/C seats at some time, I predict the pushbutton start will find it's way into all models eventually, and if adaptive headlights aren't just a passing fad (I think they are) they might make it into the car by year 4. CMBS might make it too, but I hope not.

Hopefully a Type S model will come out too.

Yea i really do hope there will be a 6 or 7 AT. They need it real bad! It will boost the fuel economy a good amount. I hope they have it ready for the 2010 model so they can debut it with the 6MT.

Yeah, I hope they step up to a 6/7 speed transmission (AT) too, but I doubt they will do it before the 5th Gen TL debuts. It would be nice to have a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and power folding outside mirrors would be cool too. I guess cooled seats would be welcomed by many, probably heated steering wheel would please folks as well. I just think we need to sensible about the features we want, and not get into nitpicking if Acura doesn't have these features. I'm surprised nobody has said anything about the TL not being able to play DVDs like the CTS. I guess we can ask for Blu-ray playback for the MMC! Just kidding, but if Acura did have Blu-ray, they would REALLY be "Advancing".
This is really a touchy subject because we pretty much have most of the "useful" features that a driver could want. When we start with these kind of threads, the gimmick lovers tend to show up and start the Acura bashing. It will be interesting to see what features become the new "must have" features over the next couple of years. I just hope that Acura will be quick to implement these features, instead of playing catch up, to keep us happy.

I'm sure they're working on something along those lines but I'll bet its a tough engineering challenge. I don't know if anyone considered there must be patent on the design and license agreement on the VW/Audi style DSG? Borg-Warner actually developed this for VWAG and thus only cars in this group have this transmission under license agreement.

Although I love to see Honda comes with 6AT or more, Honda does have the long history of problems with AT. They will be super careful of what to provide to customers this time. 5AT is the safe bid, but very disappointed. At least, 6AT should be there with the FWD model.
Also, I hate its tail. Wish I can get used to it soon.

wishlist for 2010 TL
I'm new here. I checked out the new TL's the other day, and I very much liked. It looks sort of like a healthy cross between a Cadillac and and Infiniti. Very comfortable too. Nevertheless, a few small things would make it much more appealing to me.
1) Cooled front seats. Might sound trivial, but a true blessing on a warm or hot day. The RL's have this, as does a friend's 2008 Cadillac CTS. I love this feature. Love it. Listening, Acura?
2) Wood trim. The aluminum-plastic thing is ok if you like aluminum-plastic.
3) Manual. I know it's coming.
4) 7 spd AT. Maybe I don't want a manual.
I'm also concerned about the leather in the tech package. It looks really delicate. Maybe i'm wrong.
I'm staying neutral on the grill, tho it certainly looks a bit much on the darker painted TLs.
Feel free to add to this.

1. Supercharged V6......more power but not too much at the expense of MPG
2. 6sp or 7sp AT
3. Cooled seats option (the RL has it, why not the TL?)
4. Heated steering wheel option
5. 6-CD changer
6. Less overall weight
7. Less pronounced grill
8. A-Spec package?

This may seem trivial but a friend just bought a new 2009 Malibu and the Delphi stereo has 6 sets of presets, each set uses 6 buttons labeled 1-6 for 36 presets total (only six active at a time). BUT, you can mix and match your own choices on the presets, XM, FM, Digital Radio (FM), or AM so you can have have Digital Radio/FM/XM stations on one set, not just FM only channels. AND above the buttons on the display it lists for ALL SIX buttons what station they will select. So instead of scrolling through the presets you can see the preset that is 100.7FM or XM44. That I've never seen on any radio, really useful idea from Delphi!

My want:
1) With the lighter colored interior, I wish Acura offered "WeatherTech" style winter mats with the higher sides to hold in the winter crap. I emailed WeatherTech, they won't be available for 5 or 6 months.
2) I want to hit the off ringer and say, "Call anyone in my phonebook" and have the call go through without going through 4 or 5 steps.
3) Programmable Heads Up Display – My car pool buddy’s GMC Acadia has a really nice one.
4) Cool seats are nice
5) Ability to mute my wife.
6) Separate fan speed controls for both front occupants. (May not need #5).

1) Re-design that grill
2) Re-do the taillights - I'm still not sold on them.
3) Folding rear seat (does it have this? if not, this is low on the priority list...)
Outside of that, the car is fine, I think... maybe...

Though I love my TL as is I think changes it needs falls into two categories:
**A - Changes requiring only software updates:
*Ability to upload music from iPod and USB not just CDs.
*Ability to download and make searchable Calendar and Contacts from iPod or USB.
*Ability to use reminders on the calendar.
*Ability to play DVDs when in park.
*Both mirrors tilt down when in reverse and button in the middle.
*Ability to make photographs rotate through all that is in the folder.
*Add screensaver. When in audio mode equalizer or color-filled kaleidoscope.
**B - Changes requiring additional hardware:
*Add a larger hardrive with 100G accessible.
*Key fob automatically locks the car when you walk 10 feet from car.
*Ability to add or update software (plug & play) before new models are released.
*Ability to easily add a larger hardrive already programed for the car.
Most of the changes I think requires nothing more than some programing the existing software.

Wish granted. Don't worry guys, 2009 will be the last year that we see 17's on any car. The dealer principles have already griped enough about this one.

I have not been a big fan of the 09, but the stock 17" inch wheels are too small and the styling looks too much like the MMC 3G wheels and they are dwarfed in those wheel wells.

You are a salty bastard and it's great!
I think:
~ New nose
~ M/T
~ 6 A/T
~ Folding rear seats
~ 18s standard
~ Pano roof
~ Choose any exterior/interior combination by special order
~ Interesting exterior paint
~ No weird chrome on back
~ Lease/loyalty specials for existing owners
~ RWD option
~ A/C cooled seats
~ Leather upgrade option
~ Acura sales people lease specials (Mercedes-Benz has this and it's great)
~ FWD option delete (mooch model delete)
~ More wheels options
~ Sport body kit (not add-on w/bumper lines)
~ More advertising dollars spent
~ Product placement in movies/TV/PR events
~ V8 option
~ VCM
Most should be possible.
